I picked up a SS 709 compact 9mm single stack (for $359 FYI) this week end. Since it was hovering around zero I mad a "quick" trip to woods behind my house for test. Before shooting I cleaned all the heavy factory grease out with some CLP. The 709 weighs 19oz empty, 6" long and is about 1" wide which is pretty pretty close to the kel-tec PF9 but fit my hand better. The trigger takes a bit to get used to because it has a long pull, but after going from SA to DA after the fist shot you only need to move the trigger forward 1/3 of the way to reset the trigger and fire again. There is no external hammer or magazine spring (you have to "pull" the mag out, it will not drop out) and has a very large trigger guard which makes shooting with gloves no problem. The rear sights are adjustable, but were close enough for me at 20yds. I ran 50 rounds of 115gr blazer and 14 rounds of 147gr hydra-shock without any problem. I still need to order a IWB holster and maybe a pocket holster for my summer cargo shorts.

Good to hear it worked good, I’ve been thinking of buying this one or the PF9, but I’ve heard they both had some problems that hadn’t been worked out yet. This one is more likely the one I'll buy I can’t seem to find the PF9's anywhere for sale unless it’s used.

I bought a used PF9 for $250. I am not impressed with the trigger, but the guns serves it purpose. I will not use it for shots longer than 20 feet anyway.
