hey i know ive asked this before but im looking at dd/towrigs. i tow around a 6k setup of jeep and trailer and whatever junk ends up in the bed.
Looking at a clean as a pin one owner 4wd 2000 toyota tundra. Of all the trucks ive looked at im really happy with the fit and finish on these trucks and they seem to be reliable for the long run. also looking at a 2000 chevy but for some reason the chevys in my price range are junk. so i guess my qustion is from personal experience will a toyota get it done, and is it a good purchase for dd and making the jeep haul maybe once or twice a month?

Sounds like a good run too me. I towed with a 1/2 ton Dodge 4x4 for a few years and although i would'nt win any land speed records it did fine. Just make sure you have a good set of brakes on the trailer and a good controler, you should be fine.

well if you are going to be towing enough, i would go with a 3/4 ton

Check the frame over with a fine tooth comb (or ball peen hammber)!!!!

The early tundra's had a horrible problem of the frame rusting out/falling apart.

My rommate has a '01 Tundra 4x4 xcab with the V8 and I've hauled my 4Runner (4K) on my trailer (2K) as well as other various project cars. My only complaint about the Tundra is it rides and handles more like a car. I'm used to my F350 riding and handling like a leaf sprung solid axlw truck (ass) when towing. :p

The truck you're looking at will pull 6k just fine, it'll even handle and stop it pretty well. I'd reccomend a brake controller just for piece of mind.

FWIW the recall for the frame rusting issue only applied to trucks in states where they salt the roads all winter long.

*edit* I see you bought the chevy, having owned and towed with several chevy and ford tow rigs, I'm sorry to hear you passed up the Tundra :( ...unless of course you got a Durmamx :grinpimp:
