: LJ Rubicon build questions coilovers vs axles

First of all, new to the forum, had my jeep for 3 years now. It is a 05 LJ unlimited Rubicon, currently has 4 in pro comp long arm lift on 33 in tires. Performs admirably as is, however I wheel it hard, and things break. So far had to replace every bracket from the factory, upper control arm, shock mounts, sway bar, etc. Rear dana 44 leaking around housing/tube, not sure if its bent or not. So, apparantly, I'm harder than average on it.

Here's what I want...limited to around $8k for bulletproofing/improving. Want to run 35's w/ 4.88, suspension doesn't have enough up travel and shocks need replaced. Want to go with Poly Performance coilover brackets to fit longer shocks or coilovers. Want to beef axles (or replace).

Here's the question...should I spend more on axles by replacing rear with a dana 60 or a Ford 9. Currie vs Dynatrac? If I did this, front would have to stay stock. Or should I just beef up the Dana 44's I got with chromoly axles and trusses. Or should I go with Coilovers insted of good 2.0 emulsion shocks. Or any combo within my budget.

Again, I do wheel this thing HARD...not my opinion...a fact. Here's your chance, how would you build???

defintly go with the 60's. currie 9 is definetly an option as well. if you upgrade now, maybe go with coil overs and bigger tires.... then your axles are still the weak link.... its a way better idea to work on upgrading the axles now. beefed 44's are ok, but for what its worth and depending on if your going to do the install youeself, it may be better getting it pre built

$8000 is not enough money.
But it's a start.

imo 60's are overkill for 35 inch tires. i would find a seventies ford half ton truck with a hp44 front and 9" rear get some GOOD axle brackets get rid of the pro comp stuff and get a long arm kit. if you want to do a little more fab look at gen-right or poly perfromance.

Hmmmm. I've never said 60's are a bad idea, but if your truly never gonna go bigger than 35's than maybe i'd just bling out the 44's or maybe go to 9's

i thought he said something about going with bigger tires earlier... maybe he edited or i misread the post. still 8000 wouldnt be enough for built 60's. If your staying with the 35's I agree to make the 44's stronger. pay someone to weld the brackets on better.
