: Tim Hull - 4Runner Stolen Today from Auburn Hospital
My best bud Tim Hull just had his rig stolen from work today at the Auburn Hospital. It's fully built, 39.5 iRoks, D60 rear, D44 front, Air lockers, Geared, dual Tcases, tons of mods, lots of tools in it.
If you see it, please call Auburn Police and report it.
Here are some photos from this year's Disabled Sports run in September.
toytechproject 12-08-2009, 09:41 PM I will keep an eye out. What is with all the stolen toyotas in CA these days? Hopefully someone finds it before it gets destroyed, its a nice rig
UrbanDEV™ 12-08-2009, 09:49 PM Hopefully someone finds it before it gets destroyed, its a nice rig
yeah it is
He spent years building it up. Totally devastated.
toytechproject 12-08-2009, 10:01 PM Its one thing to have your car stolen. It is another thing when it is a vehicle that you have put a lot of time, effort, sweat, blood and money into it only to have some worthless fuck steal it so they can strip it for the parts
They are out driving around looking for it. I'm doing research for where vehicles are usually found. Any help would be awesome!
notstock 12-09-2009, 12:29 AM That truly sucks, sure hope he gets it back undamaged.

the sting operation needs to happen,, I for one, will volunteer to be on the undercover stakeout car side of things,
if it can happen, we should keep the operation on a PM only basis, to keep it hush-hush from any of the thieves that might frequent this site...........

If you do setup a sting op, you should put lo-jack or some type of GPS tracking on the vehicle (or both). Then you will guaranty recovery.
Setup a bait car like the cops do. Even a Cell Phone in the car can do GPS tracking with Google Maps. You just have to enable the phone and then you can track it.

I would like to know how you can track a cell phone on Google Earth-I went through the menus and didn't see any mention of that. Would be cool to do.
Thanks.

Depends on the phone. One way is with Google Latitude:
http://www.google.com/latitude/intro.html
Here are some more ways with other phones:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_tracking
I have AT&T and they offer a pay service for tracking phones. Parents use this service to track their kids.
Oh, and I didn't say Google Earth. I said Google Maps. The tracking sites that I've seen use Google maps to show the position of the cell phone.

Toms97ZJ 12-16-2009, 11:13 AM Good luck, hope you get it back.
On the topic of the sting, put ON STAR in the rig, lol.
My Pastor was giving his sermon at Church and someone stole his HYbrid Escalade and when he came back to see his keys and phone were gone he called On Star and they tracked it, called the cops, then when the car pulled over they killed the engine and locked all the doors, lol.
But yea, Good Luck and hope fully you will catch the guys!

On Star is only for GM vehicles. I have not found and aftermarket on star.
I use GPS tracking on everything truck, boat, motorcycle, 4runner. My truck was stolen 2 years ago and I cried when it happen. I got all my units from www.gpstrackingdaddy.com
super easy to deal with, and he really know his stuff. I have my truck setup with remote shutdown so if someone steal it I can disable the vehicle while running down the road.
Check out the website under theft recovery.

My '85 Runner was stolen in the Auburn area 10/22. Parks and Rec recovered it night of 12/30 at Lake Clementine.
Truck was stripped of wheels, axles and suspension, they took the stereo and top. Brand new Warn winch and custom winch bumper gone.
but to my surprise, engine (new) virtually intact, Tranny and T-case still there. IFS box still there.
Makes me believe immature punks as opposed to a professional op.
Best of luck... trust me, it sucks. Oh, 800 bucks to get out of impound.
Edit. more details, appears they drove it down to the river near Lake Clementine, and stripped it there. ONce axles removed, and runner on the ground, they were unable to take the tranny / tcase, and left the engine (less that 1000 miles on Yotaman rebuild). They left the IFS box, doors, hood, tailgate and such. the interior is trashed due to ripping out stereo, and critters.
Sheriff was down there recovering a quad that rolled off the hill, and found my runner during the extraction.
point is, no sense in looking in Roseville or Sacto, we need to be looking at in the hills where no one but off roaders usually go.

suzuki_girl 12-31-2009, 01:19 PM Good to hear that you got some of your truck back. My husband had a similar experience a while back in Sacramento. Thieves stole his Toyota truck the first time and took his tires, rims and radio. His truck was stolen a second time right after getting another set of tires, but when the truck was found by Sac PD in a water canal, nothing was left besides a frame, stripped wrinkled body and trashed engine, looks like they tried to burn the remains of the truck. It for sure does suck. The look on my husbands face when he went to the tow yard to see what was left of the truck that he spent a lot of time and money on was heart breaking. There's many ideas that have run through my head to stop thieves, but they aren't very legal.
Happy New Year, bump. Still looking for Tim's Runner.
Camo Deere 01-01-2010, 04:47 PM Really nice rig gope it gets it back in one piece

Clementine has lots of Russian people that hang out there. Both upper and lower are good places to look as well as Sugar Pine Reservoir, Drivers Flat Rd off of Foresthill Rd.
CDA 455 01-08-2010, 04:18 PM What are the chances of the rig being completely parted out and sold by now?
Anybody check Craigslist, etc; over the past month?
I hope the perps are caught.
timoflea88 01-09-2010, 03:28 PM Ya I have been checking craigs list daily along with 13 other 4x4 web sites. I thought by now I would have seen at least 1 thing of mine for sale. I'm not giving up, these thieves will have to wait a lifetime to sell any of my stuff without me finding out. I am so thankful to have such a great group of friends looking out for me and my truck. Not to mention how much support i have gotten from the entire wheeling community. When I get my truck back, I'm gonna throw a wheelin party and invite everyone involved in the search weather I know em or not.

Well, Tim has decided to move on. He recently purchased some new built axles and is looking for a stock 4Runner to build up again. I believe he will be starting a build up thread soon in the Toyota section.
So, he is out looking for parts now if anyone knows/has anything. He is timoflea88 on here.
Sucks to have to start over after the rig was finally complete.
timoflea88 03-16-2010, 10:17 PM Ya I have moved on, but I haven't given up all hope yet. I still search the net daily, I now also look for parts for my new 4Runner project. If any one has parts that you think would assist me in rebuilding my wheeler, please email me what you have and how much you need to get for it. I need all the deals I can get as I lost so much in my previous investment. I need a Crawler, Hydro steering, Winch, beadlocks and tires, Bumpers, etc. dudeh80@yahoo.com

fullsizetoy 08-14-2010, 06:50 AM These guys work quick! I had a friend in Sac area that had a Toy stolen and in 12 hours it was stripped and the body was chopped up in pieces that were 2x2 then dumped in a field.
It just happened to be a field that I drove by every day so we found them (not worth a dime) they were caught red handed though with the whole chassis complete ready for a body swap in thier garage. It turned out to be a house of kids around the corner from my buddy.
Lesson do not look for your runner look for your chassis. Watch for yota being built in the area it was stolen. Be friendly to get close!
Sucks man hope you get something back. That is why my wife does not park in the garage.
timoflea88 09-23-2010, 01:05 PM After having my 85 4Runner stolen almost a year ago. I am now praying for a philanthropist willing to donate to help me get started building another wheeler. All I need go get started is a 1985 - 88 22re Toyota 4 Runner with a blown motor or bad trans or no axles. Just anything to get me started.
Thanks to all the wheelin world for keepin an eye out for mine and all the other stolen rigs.
deanschool 07-10-2011, 09:50 PM i take it, it was never found? that blows bro! hows the new build coming!?
Sleepr71 07-15-2011, 07:51 AM Sorry man, just read the whole thread & it just pisses me off! I work at urban hospitals to & have had my vehicles broken into TWICE within sight of major entrance/exit points(the last time was within sight of the local police station:shaking:) & had various stuff stolen..One of my buddies came out one night to find his Lexus sitting on 4 cement blocks:mad3:. My perception is that any large workplace(especially urban) is always going to have some slimy, scumbuckets hangin around scoping out the flow of traffic/peoples schedules & best potential targets, then making their move when it's quiet. Now, I mainly just drive my POS Saturn to work, and if I do drive something I care about I will carry a cable-style bicycle lock and run it through one of the front wheels & around the frame. A little inconvenient..but you're not gonna drive it off..or steal all the wheels(dump it on blocks) without making one helluva racket:smokin: and it won't scuff up the wheels.Somebody posted above to play "NICE" & get to know everybody in your area building a rig..Good advice & you may be surprised at what eventually comes up for sale;)Good luck,Sleepr71.
