It's called superlock. And for the life of me, I can't remember how to reverse it. Want to say original key in driver door and something back in the tailgate. Never actually ha it happen to me, but it happened once in awhile at the dealer.

1 turn unlock
5 unlocks

dealer code for lost key fob to reset superlock function and drive until dealer can get new fob.Now to try and find a way to disable the function.

Superlock is embedded in the main computer, likely cannot be disabled. But who knows. At least I got the right diagnosis. Good luck and dont get locked in. I heard that sucks.

If it's a classic, it does not have superlock capability. If it's a P38, you probably need a BeCM (based upon being locked in and no juice, however, it could be superlocked)

The doors are odd, but the ignition key can be forced out by cutting one of the two tiny white or blue wires that go to the key solenoid. It's not uncommon and I've only seen it on '95 RRCs. Resolution usually requires replacing the lock assembly.

As for the doors, that's a good one! I had a woman call the other day telling me she was giving her DII away as it had locked her inside and she couldn't get out!

or disconnect the central locking stuff in the doors, that was my solution. Mine is just for trails so I could care less if they all unlock at the same time or not.

Go ahead, waste your time. It is not likely to be an electrical problem-but, your posts are kinda difficult to understand so I could be wrong just from interpreting your post wrong!

Classics have simple mechanical door locks with mechanical linkages.

I can disconnect the battery in all of my Classics and not have difficulty getting the key out, nor opening the doors. OTOH, all of them have badly worn locks and they can be a bitch to get open.

If the tach works, your charging system is probably working.

sorry for the misunderstanding . This thing just completly shut down ! would not open from the inside , key woukdnt pull out of ignition ,only waning lights on dash ABS,airbags,.

there was no pwer to anything at all.forgot to mention the PO let it sit for appox 2 months only starting it every 2 weeks (hard to believe) but who knows it's my problem now.

Or you're in an accident and your car is on fire.
I think superlock pisses off more owners than thieves.

C'mawn, somebody prove to me that a '95 RRC has the ability to superlock.

The RRCs don't have BeCMs, the wimpy alarms in the RRCs (even the '95s) don't have the ability to lock you into the truck.

At the risk of the abuse I know I'll get, here is the relevant portion of the RAVE.

ANTI THEFT ALARM SYSTEM
A vehicle alarm system is available as original
equipment. The main function of the system is to offer
easy to use remote locking and unlocking of the
vehicle without having to actively select the alarm
function.
ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM FUNCTION
Perimetric protection
Using the key in the correct sequence will turn on and
off perimetric protection only. When fully perimetrically
armed, all doors, tailgate, and bonnet [hood] are
protected against unauthorised access. If the door key
is used in the normal manner the driver will be
unaware of the door key sequence. The time taken to
lock or unlock with the key must be less than 5
seconds. To prevent unauthorised tampering, the
alarm will sound if the key is held in the unlocked
position for longer than 5 seconds when armed.
Cranking is disabled when perimetric protection is
armed.
NOTE: When key is turned left or right the
keyswitch input will be activated, in
conjunction with the sill button switch
when links are operated

You don't have to re-install... that is if you have some space left

You can add GNOME using YaST > Software Management , select the pattern view and add the GNOME Desktop.
That should install all you need.

When you've installed log out and hit the 'sessions' button to select GNOME to log into the GNOME desktop.

This way you get to play with both
