Hey folks,

Chile Challenge registration is up again for 2010 - Feb 24-27

This year we are planning to run the hard trails as opposed to the extreme trails (mainly because I dont have a tow rig atm). So KC, KC's brother in a Disco, and myself and family in the honorary Land Rover Wrangler Unlimited will be heading down for the event.

We usually stay at Hampton Inn Las Cruces (though you can camp at the fairgrounds).

Trail choices incoming

Land Rover Wrangler Unlimited.....

Bill, you really need a couple of Green Ovals to stick on that truck.. Otherwise I don't think people will believe it's a Land Rover.

I figured that if I put a Series Vin plate on it, it would be more authentic than some of the rovers on this forum... :P

I concur you guys should come to KOH. It's an experience of a lifetime. I'll even rent a toyhauler just for you and KC and fam to stay in if you come. By the way Tis you are welcome again but none of your entourage this time.

Hey Ben, hows things.

Sorry we wont likely make KOH. Collin is going to get to wheel his own truck for real this year at chili. Should be fun.

Come on down Tis. You can stay at our place on the way if you come this direction and not via I10.

Or you can stay on your way to KOH

As to Ben's thought - I appreciate the offer, but my days of camping and partying are pretty much over. I'm old and cranky now.

Thanks Bill, I'd love to catch up with you and Sandi but I am not driving out this trip.

It's not like camping, staying in an RV is like having your own little house in the middle of the desert...plus you've got to see the Mickey Bombs!

Things are pretty good. Haven't had time this year to go wheeling really at all which sucks, but definitely going to KOH. Good to hear that Collin's finally fallen into the dark side. What'd yall end up doing with the Bronco?

Too bad you can't make it over to the Hammers it's a totally different place to wheel. More extreme trails than I have ever seen in one place. Also the atomosphere is awesome hundreds of like minded people all over. And like Tis said at the end of the day you retreat to the house on wheels with all the amenities. Maybe next year.

I might be persuaded to come tow the big trailer down to Las Cruces. If KC will fill my 100 gallon tank! That will be the day!

Considering it.

So when we pickin trails? I'm gettin antsy to get out on the rocks! By the way bill, if your in town next week i may try to come by and pick up my bottle jack I left up there a few weeks ago.

And hey ben, the bronco is still sittin around these days. I've been trying to plan a resurrection for the last year or so to get it finished up and back on the trails. We will see how long that takes

Ok, I know most of you don't care cause your at KOH right now. But to those of us who are going to the Chili challenge, be sure you have current vehicle registration etc if you want to attend the event. I just got a call about an error in my registration, and it brought up a conversation about why they need some of the info. Apparently they will be hard core about it this year. Of course take that how you will cause they have never really been hard core about much of anything. But as always the bleeding hearts are making it harder and harder to attend this event.

Spectators and spectator parking is going to be cut to a minimum this year. Apparently the spectators are causing more damage than we are. And sounds like no parking on saturday at the trail heads. So driving from the fair grounds is recommended unless you have an alternate parking location.

cant wait to get out on the rocks. My disco decided to take a crap last week and its now sitting in the garage with the engine torn apart so it looks like i will be either driving the pinz or standing on the side line this year. Either way it should be a fun week!

If we get out by noon it will be a miracle. Collin might be gone in the pinz by then, but who really knows. We are trying to get into town before night fall.

Hey Nate - save a slot for our big trailer at the fairgrounds near ya. We will be waiting for Pendy to make it from Amarillo tomorrow morning (weather permitting).

So I'd bet we get there after nightfall.

Looking forward to the trip and hangin' out at the homestead.

right on guys. dunno where we're gonna camp this year. likely the next street south of the main building where we were last year. not much trailer parking there. the place doesnt get packed till wed night/thurs anyway. should be plenty of places to drop a trailer.

Trip was good. Interesting running the hard trails instead of the extremes. Cayenne crawler was the best in my opinion. Donna Anna Hard kinda sucked and had a few sketchy off camber sections that were little fun at all. All the trucks we had did very well. Ended up not having any rovers with us minus Frankenrover. The pinz lost its 6 wheel drive the first day but was fixed by the end of the following day. Im sure Collin and bill have a couple pics, but I dont have much of anything. Here is Collin driving my Mog.

I have to agree with KC, Cayenne crawler was the best trail of the week and Dona Ana Hard was more frustrating than fun

Yep, thats pendy. He traded off between the rover, my mog and bills Rubicon.

And Actually the pinz was up and running for Donna Anna which was the worst off camber trail out there. It did surprisingly well. We got nervous on one or two spots, but it trucked through without even getting light.

Chili Challenge was good times. Had some nervous trail leaders packing heat and covering their holster whenever I was about. Plus some wholesome Jeep owners along for the ride to bring us back to our roots.

Everyone had family along for this one but me. So I was left to mind my manners most of the time. But I look forward to getting both KC's and Bills younger brothers out for some Shenanigans after the trails sometime in the not to distant future.

The trucks did well. I sent my pictures to Bill. Maybe he will post us some pics.

Not a big fan of the Panzer tank. But it is big enough to haul a hot tub and some coolers of beer if there are ever any ladies to soak on the trail.

Thanks guys, good times.
