Hi Guys; I'm usually in the far-east part of pirate 4x4, But I need a hauler/puller, got some questions?
I came across a 1986 Chevy 3/4 4x4 6.2 diesel auto military truck for sale.
44000 miles ,just off the base, no rust!
What axels and trany would it have? What are the parts worth? Price is $3000, what are your thoughts???
thanks

My guess: TH400, NP208, Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, 4.56 gears, Detroit rear. $3000 is average. Motors are crappy.

Yup what Corey said and if its a M1028 or M1031 they come with Trac-Loc limited slips up front, which is a extra bonus:D.

Sure can, if its a budget build and you wanna keep the diesel just rob...(i mean buy lol) the turbo and assorted parts off a 6.5.

prb be a 5/4 ton
$3k is average price in "average" location. It's usually worth a little more if it's already titled/licensed
the 6.2's are around 135hp/240ftlbs and can take a little turbo, but not much. If you push them past what they want, they can break a crank.
BUT: they are fine for what they are for, some towing and getting your butt around.
Corey hit the ingredients list above, and the 14b rears all had detroit lockers in them as well as the models mentioned above that have the LSD in the front 60.
I've got a 1031 sitting in the yard right now for a donor truck to swap some parts into my M715
any q's can pretty much be answered here:
