BnTMike 09-30-2002, 12:29 PM has anyone every built there own lockout system... like during a course you could flip a small pin in front of the shift handle to keep it out of Park?? Or is there a shifter that has that already... like an adj lockout guide through the range of the shifter for all gears??

BnTMike 09-30-2002, 12:34 PM I saw a shifter on brutus that was non gated with a button and it was very fast.. no name on it... looked like an older camero shifter??

My tap-down hosed up on mine. Had a LOT of trouble getting it to go any lower than 3rd after awhile. Now, I have to "fiddle" with it to get it into 2nd where it belongs. Very poorly made shifter. I'll never buy another one.

P|n-BaLL 09-30-2002, 02:04 PM I personally run the Art Carr I can move it through the detents as fast as any shifter....it's worst feature is the noise it makes when ya rapidly are moving between gears. But then again I been running mine at least 10 years now. And 6 of those were plowing snow as well.... Rev-1st ALOT

350 Samurai 09-30-2002, 02:17 PM Go to the junkyard and get a stock floor shifter from some kind of sports car. They are tough, all metal construction.
I ground the corner off the stop that keeps it from going all the way into reverse when you slam it from low. Now, if you are just trying to put it in neutral from drive it works just like normal, but if you slam it hard (like when you slide back down a big hill), it will go into reverse and give you control to back down. It will not go into Park until you push the button.

People frequetly cut out selected gates in the Art Carr to serve what ever purpose the are interested in.
YELLER BLAZER 09-30-2002, 03:20 PM If you got the bucks go with the art carr and cut the gates for the reverse to low. If not do as the poor Okies and use a scout 2 shifter, dirt simple and works everytime.
70~K5 09-30-2002, 04:40 PM Go with a Art Carr shifter and a reverse manual valve body. Then you have P-R-N-1-2-3. Then you'll have reverse and low close to each other.
Rock Toy 09-30-2002, 04:50 PM I'm with 70~K5. Go with the Art Carr and Reverse Manual Valvebody :D I think an ATLAS case would help as well...
Toddy 09-30-2002, 08:06 PM I have heard lots of good things bout them. I havent used one but most people like them.
my vote is gonna be for a lokar shifter, i dont have one yet but i plan on running one when i do a engine swap. the only prob i see is when you push the button to go from park to D it wont let you go any further than d until you release the button and you cant get to 1st until you push the button but you can go from 1st to N and then push the button to get into reverse.
Heavy Metal Toy 09-30-2002, 08:14 PM ive heard good things about the Hurst Unimatic, no lockouts, cheap too. I think it works on a Ford.....

I made a replacement handle for my buddies B&M out of 1/4" 1018 a couple of years ago after he did that to his. He ended up breaking the shifter somewhere else a month later! Pitched it all and went to a 4-speed, go figure...
redyj 09-30-2002, 11:55 PM Take a look at Lokar's trans mount shifter for the c-6. I have a trans mount in my jeep, and it works great! Look at there website
www.lokar.com or give them a call and ask to speak to Kevin Ford
(865) 966-2269. Kevin is into fourwheel drives himself and has a K5 on 44's so he can be of help in fixing your problem.
