looks badass...............2 thumbs up for the liscense plate mounting

the amigo does make a really cool platform for a wheeler when you throw an axle up front.

I dont know what kinda top it has on it. It was on it when I got the truck. I would like to find the factory hardtop for it though.

Thanks Matt. You were a bunch of help when I got started on the amigo. I had one of your 307 gear sets in the transfer case for a while. Now I am running dual toyota transfer cases. (divorce mounted behind a 2wd isuzu transmission)

I would have used duct tape. Electrical tape seems so, so, temporary.

hey man, that electricl tape was rated up to 67mph, and I had it on like 3 layers thick. So technically I could go 201 miles and hour. how fast can you go???

Steve's a 1st-gen Amigo owner with 35's... I'd say 70mph, assuming a good tail wind:laughing: Looks great!

When mine was stock, I had it a little over 100mph. With 35s, I've had it at little over 90mph. Both on down grades, tail wind not necessary :smokin:

Just cruising on the highway, I will hit 75-80 for passing. I'm comfortable cruising at 60-65.

Sir, I love the pictures. I have a 99 Amigo that I have done everything to that I can except the front axle swap. I was told to look at this post by Independent 4x4 and I like what I see. I am in southern AZ and our terrain is a lot like that in your pictures. I just can't do some of the off-camber and steep approach angle stuff with my current IFS. Would you be willing to discuss this project with me and give me some pointers on parts/issues you have found?

no worries. I already talked to you on the phone for a while, now lets see some pics of your amigo already.

Ok, I finally purchased my red star. Now i can finally get some pix of the amigo back up and running. I have done quite a bit of work on it since the pix that I originally put up.
Right now I am trying to get it through california smog so I can get my tags back up to date. Just so you know... Six month old gas dosent help much when you are trying to pass an emissions test.

It passed smog!!! (barely). It has been over a year since the amigo was registered for street use here in california. I am looking forward to getting to drive this thing to work again, and of course, to and from the trails. Anyone in so-cal ready for some night wheeling?
