So an 8ft motivator and a long struggle later my pinion bearings are preloaded correctly. Before I start measuring for pinion depth and shit I have a few questions. The 6 bolts that hold the pinion housing on, what are they supposed to be torqued to? Should I use rtv on the shim/housing/pinion housing, etc. Any other tips or tricks I should know. Thanks... TJ

Torque the bearing cap bolts to 100 ft lbs. I used black RTV when I did mine to keep it from leaking.
As for tips, getting the pinion preload and crush sleeve crushed was the hardest thing I had to deal with. Everything else is down hill from there.

do u set up gears on a 14 bolt different than other crush collar axles?? i've never put gears in my 14 bolt, but why do u set the pinion bearing preload before setting pinion depth.. shouldn't you be getting pinion depth right without the collar and then crushing the collar once it's done.. just asking if a 14 bolt is different..
