Made a safari rack for it, not finished but here is kind of what it looks like on the truck.

I've seen pics of that Montero before. You from greatlakes4x4.com?
I like it.

Hey thanks, sorry I have been away from a computer over the holiday break.
My Montero just made another 2500 mile trip....with a total of 172,XXX and over 20,000 miles on since I did the head gaskets
Yeah I am also on greatlakes4x4...I have been on there for a while and decided to join Pirate when I say the Mitsu section.

I did headgaskets on my 95 SR with the 3.5 DOHC, that was a nightmare. Hope yours was easier I think yours would be a 3.0 24v SOHC so hopefully itd be easier. Then a month or so later my bottom end went kaput. But I got my montero with 207k and put maybe 3 or 4k on it then it died el well...... I liked the hell out of it while it ran.

It wasn't too bad, just time consuming...
I thought the same would happen to me but every time I drive it from Michigan to Oklahoma towing either a dune buggy or a car on a dolly I am impressed that the bottom end holds up. I am now more worried about the automatic trans going before the motor....we will see, this winter should be a good test
I forgot to explain how this is a college beater...
I got the my Montero right before I went off to college and I hated the thing....Got suspended my first term because I jumped a sand bunker on the universities putting green. I would literally beat the living piss out of it. Then one winter day the head gasket popped. Figuring it was the end for the truck and it became a storage unit and even got broken into in the parking lot I had it sitting in (2 windows busted out) and then for some reason me and some buddies were bored and decided to try a top end rebuild which we had never done before...well 2.5 years later and countless road trips under its belt, I have grown to like the thing and as you can see I lifted it and DD it.

Haha, I feel ya on the getting in trouble at school for driving your vehicile. I got my "priveleges" suspended for parking on school ground b/c of one to many burnouts and what not...... :smokin: It was hella fun tho and still raised hell in the parking lot :flipoff2:

That is AWESOME! My in laws have a 94 montero that they use as thier "winter" car so my mother in law doesn't bang up her mercedes LOL.. That thing is a tank. It goes EVERYWHERE! I try every week to get my father in law to sell it to me so I can lift it and put bigger tires on it, and make it sorta an expedition rig... But he hasn't relented yet. I may just have to go out and get one on my own.
Nice rig bro.
