: Why I love Clark County!

I'm headed up to the brand new Clark County Shooting Park (http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/parks/locations/pages/Shooting_Park.aspx) in an hour or so. The thing is freaking huge and it's up the side of the Sheep Mountians overlooking the whole valley. It got lighting, so in the summer we'll be able to go up when it's cooler outside and shoot, and still see the lights of the valley. Here's a .pdf of the plan. (http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/depts/parks/locations/Documents/Master_Plan.pdf)

It's got a 50 yard pistol range with 40 stalls, and a 200 yard rifle range with 20 stalls, a trap & skeet range, archery range, training rooms, and they're building an RV park for future competitions. They've got 2900 acres of land, so I think it's going to be in place for a long time. The closest house is over a mile away, (although there are still those that have complained about it, even though it's been on the books for years and years).

The google earth shot is old and doesn't show the construction, or paved roads, but you can still get an idea of how big it is as it shows the graded land.

Also going back tomorrow with .22's for a buddy and his kids.

Any of you guys got similar parks in your area?

i think someone else posted here about this range before. it sounds great.

our local range may not be quite as great as your new one but we do have a great facility just outside of sacramento.

How'd you get that google earth image to post?

Where is the Sacto range? Off Jackson Highway maybe?

I think they were building that place when I lived in Sacto.

Just got back from the park, and it's a great facility. Lots of parking, lots of shooting stations, cheap targets ($.35 each), and real nice range masters. We'll be back.

Drail brought out his 500 S&W, and it always quiets the range whenever he shoots it. :grinpimp: The damn thing kicks like a mule, and even with rubber grips it just kicks straight back into your hand...but it's fun.

What are you going to do with a 200 yard rifle range? I shoot some of my handguns longer than that. :D

It's not fully open, but open enough for me. I had eyes, ears, and ammo but forgot targets which they had for a quarter a piece. The range fee is only $7. They have the current hours of operation on the website, and expect to do a grand opening sometime in January.

Going to the gun show this AM to get more ammo, and then back to the park. :D

Um, shoot your rifles that are sighted for 200yds. :flipoff2: Jerry is bringing his Super Redhawk today and wants to shoot it at 200, but it's only got a 2x scope, so I think he might have a little issue with seeing the target.

I have shot rifles with iron sights out to 1000yrds.
