i have a single ended psc ram with high performance pump. 90% of the time it runs perfect and a can turn the wheel with 1 finger but sometimes i have to really work to crank it around. any ideas??

Low fluid or not enough fluid. I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm going to plum in a cooler for 2 reasons. 1 keep it cooler.. duh.. and 2 more fluid. I have a single ended ram and am using a stock PS pump with the relief valve oversized. But when I turn it all the way to the right, then when I come back left its hard at first. I think this is because the fluid in the resivior is low. All the fluid is in the ram.

So we'll see if my little trick works tomorrow.

1. Air in my system doesn't make my wheel turn hard. I've ran it dry and just pumped air into the rams. Then the ram starts acting like an air shock. My guess is that you are losing pressure. I run a pressure gauge on my rear steer control, they are cheap.

2. An inline cooler will not put any more fluid in your reservoir. It will still run dry at the same rate. You will just have more fluid in the line and run cooler. We extend the filler of the reservoir to accept more fluid. I'm using 2 unbalanced rams 2" bore and 10" stroke (front and rear) with a 2" x 14" extension on a Saginaw pump and it's just enough if I don't crab all the way to the right.

Long shot but make sure that the linkage isn't binding up. I know it sounds stupid, but it's happened to me before.

When the knuckle started turning I lost my geometry in the radius (I had less leverage not pushing straight away). I had enough power to turn it at the house, but once in the rocks it would give me trouble from time to time. I had to relocate the mount at the axle.

Got any pic's?

Well I think I stopped all my leaks , added some fluid, never put the cooler in yet, but all seems fine. My only complaint is I'm 2.5 turns lock to lock. Kinda scary over 30mph, I think I need about 4 turns:(
