Ok, I have offsett my radius arms, and have about a 4" lift on my Disco. I am still running OME N45f on the front of my truck. I was looking at getting a longer Rancho, but I wonder if I am just wasting money. Does anyone have any experience with about a 11" shock on the front. I am going to adapt my front shock towers to accecpt an Eye Mounting on the top end so i can fit some longer shocks, but is 11" overkill. When i flex out the front of my truck, I can't tell if the Shock is limiting my travel or if it is something else. I was also going to do the Holey Bushing deal, and I am expecting to get more travel than i already have. What experiences have you guys had with real long shocks on the front? Peace:flipoff2:

Well, for one thing, the stock DII tower will bolt on allowing the eye mount shock. Just incase you want to keep the fab work at a minimum.

The 9005 has a real travel of 11 1/4" which would work well with a 4" lift...you need loop mounting on the bottom front as well but thats simple to do. Any thing longer is wasted travel and wont fit in there. Drill the D-2 upper towers out to 1/2" as it is 12 m/m now.

9014 is a post to post, with 12.5 real travel.

Go to the rancho homepage, and download the application chart.

Brad-
what im doing is gettin disco 2 towers, and some special RTE lower mounts(eyelet type), the 9005 shock which is ~12 inch travel(a little less like john said above). I am using the RTE 20.5 inch tall dual rated spring too...
I have not seen how well it flexes yet, because i havent gotten the stuff yet from john, but i will keep you posted.

I will look for a DII tower, but if not I will just rework my original towers to fit an eyelet shock, this should be a piece of cake. I gues I will go with the 9005, but I don't want to bottom out the shock. I have looked at all the applications on the Rancho site, and it says that the 9005 is 17.25" compressed. If i need to I will lengthen the tower too. Also, I check with my local parts store and they said that Rancho is doing away with the RS9000 and replacing them with the RS9000X, is this true?? I mean i feel no need to be able to adjust the shocks anyway, but who the hell needs to adjust them in 9 different settings? I will post a few pics as the work is done. Thanks

I confirmed this yesterday by coincidence. If you carried a lot of variations of load, you would want to adjust your shocks. The old rancho was a 5 position, with a 2x multiplier on the adjustment. Meaning that position 2 was 100% stiffer than position 1. IMHO, it was to sharp a variation. The new adjustments allow some fine tuning.

Look for dificulties in warranty of current 9000 series. Most likey additional money to upgrade if you break one.

drive up something backwards that forces your truck to max out the front (lift a tire in the front) then push down on the front if you can extend the shock more it's not maxed out. Or you can measure it but so much easier just to push it down. I know that probably seems really rudimentary but hey it might help someone.
