I'm keeping the stock 4.0L 242cid in my 1997 TJ and mating it to a new 700R4. I've got all the Advanced Adapters parts but still need the FLEXPLATE from an auto TJ. I've been through Google, Rock Auto and other places and still can't find one.

Novack sells one but only with the kit and the guy on the phone said it's specifically drilled for their kit.

Rock Auto has one for the 1990 YJ 4.2L 258cid...can I use that one?

Or do I have to go to a Jeep junkyard and find one from a 1997 TJ auto?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried a local auto parts store?

Even if they don't have it in stock they should be able to order one.

You can't use one from a 4.2 as it doesn't have the crank position sensor parts needed.

I haven't been in the auto parts store because everytime I go in there with a question, they look at me like I'm speaking German. Maybe I need to try a different parts store though.

Also, the sensor is being relocated to the front with the AA adapter/kit.

Thanks.

Called AA and they suggested calling the dealership and it would be about $50 for a flexplate. Called the dealership and they want $107 (with tax) for one. So I went back online for a while and found one on Napa ($80 w/ tax) that looks like it'll work:
