I dont know if this really fits in here but I thought that it might get better feedback here than in chit chat so....

Has anybody ever heard of Sunrise Windows? They are made in Michigan and are a vinyl framed window. Just curious if anybody here had put them in their home and if so what your thoughts are? With the tax credit for the Energy Star windows now is a good time to look at replacing them.

Any other suggestions on window brands?

Heres a link to Sunrise Windows http://www.sunrisewindows.com/index.html

What kind of tax credit you guys get there or is it federal ???

I want new windows in my house but for dual pane, vinyl, with installation (removing old windows not putting new frame in old frame) I was quoted around 11,000$ and they said it would not take more than 2 days. I have 7 windows up stairs and 9 windows down stairs + a garden window. Price seemed high to me  This was CertainTeed windows too I believe.

The maximum credit for all taxable years is $500 — no more than $200 of the credit can be attributable to expenses for windows.

What a savings :shaking:

Oops that's old.

Here is new: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=tax_credits.tx_index

$1500 now.

Much better :D

I missed out on this last year when we put a new roof on, new sliding glass door, and 3 new exterior doors  probably could have gotten the entire credit then. Going to have to talk to my tax dude...

when we had windows put in, we bought some that had aluminum frames inside the vinyl for added strength and where the latch hardware can screw into and the mounting screws can go through

Also, there are dual locks on each window about 5-6" from the top/bottom instead of a single latch in the center. This reduces the chance of break-in via breaking the lock by pushing the sliding section breaking the latch (happened to my in-laws that way)

If you want in dont tear my damn windows up......the door is unlocked. Seriously I'm glad that I dont have to make security a priority when window shopping.
