I have one in my front 44. Seems to work fine but I haven't had it in that long. A couple of things for the "Pro" side:
1)You don't have to have your gears reset.
2) Cheap...real cheap.

Scoutdude those are the pros that make me want to try one, not much$$ over here, I had even considered moving my trash-loc to the front and the open to the rear and welding it, but now I'm thinking lockrite up front and just welding the trac-loc that way I dont have to re-set any gears right now.
You can put the lockrite in the traclock, and weld the open lockrites work good on front but they make to much noise on rear.I ran them last year.

I have an open carrier in the front to put the lockrite in and I am going to weld up the rear trac-loc.......leave everything where it is.

I run a lockright in the front and have had no problems with it. I also ran one in the rear for about a year, but it made to much noise and would unload when you let off the gas and throw the Scout all over the road, work awsome off-road though. I bought mine do to price paid $150.00 a set from a kid you needed the money he never installed them, i put a Detroit ez-locker in the rear now and it seems quiter, haven't had it off road yet though

I have them front and rear on my 76 Scout II, work great. I don't even notice them with the auto tranny, Not that it matters. I also run them in my Toyota axles on my Suzuki. Can't beat the price..My .02

I don't know if I'd agree with everyone else. I just installed the Detroit EZ Locker in my 75. Works great most of the time, but when climbing the front end overpowers the locker. I talked to tech support at TruTech, the weight of the Scouts may be too much for the EZ Locker. The EZ Locker and LockRite are almost identical. You may want to consider a full Detroit. Detroit also does not recommend the EZ Locker for 33" and up tires. So I am little P.O.d about this

I've had a Lockright in the front of my Scout II for over 3 years now. I've only had to replace it once.
Made a big improvement in traction. I like it a LOT better than the "new" Tracklok that was in the rear when I bought it (and is now pretty much open).
I can't run 4-hi around town any more though - not without white knuckles. Torque-steer is horrible.
OTOH, off-road in 4-low.. works GREAT. Add a power-steering cooler to keep from burning the fluid.

Hey I'm new to this list, but not to Scouts! Glad to find a group of Hardcore Trail machines. I'm currently running a lockrite upfront on 16-35/15 Boggers, and have had the same locker going on 3 years now (1 year w/Boggers). So far so good, in fact I've been busting axle ujoints & the lockrite is fine. I did blow one up in the rear a few years ago tho.... my .02

Hmmm, I can spin both rear tires on rock in 4 lo without the lockright opening up on me. I am planning on putting one in the front when I re-gear in a year or so.
