I'm building a Dana 44 out of a 77 or 78 F250, and I need shafts, everywhere I've called says they need a BOM number but unless I am looking on the wrong side of the housing I can't find one. does anyone have any suggestions
Get a wire brush, clean dead center front until you find numbers. You'll find a date code and something like: 610040
Is it high pinion? Have open or close knuckles.

It is a high pinion with open knuckles, I found the number on the short side of the tube. but I figured it would on the long side, since every 44 I have seen has it on the long side. Oh well, I'm drunk right now, I don't know:p
