: Clutch Shudder

I have a '96 ext. cab Tacoma, 3.4 with a manual tranny-- over the last week, when I go from a stop to a start, the whole truck "shudders" while I am balancing the clutch. After doing some research, I thought there was something wrong with the hydraulics (there was some fluid leaking from the master cylinder). I replaced the MC and I am STILL having the same issue. It seems to be a little better but not much. Could I possibly have air in the lines still that would affect the hydraulics, or am I way off? ANY help would be appreciated, I can not figure this out

Hmm, didn't you post something similar on TTORA? If I recall the thread got pretty cluttered with chit-chat.

You replaced your MC, which I don't think was the problem, but whatever. Did you bench bleed it before installing it?

Yeah I already posted, but they started talking about other stuff. I didn't bench bleed it, I just bled it once it was installed. I'm wondering if there is still air in the line somewhere, but I don't know if that would cause the truck to shudder in the way it is (the shudder isn't nearly as bad as it was before I replaced the MC).

I still think that it's a clutch/flywheel surface problem. How many miles do you have on the current clutch?

Somewhere around 45,000 (replaced it summer of 2006) at most, but I do wheel it without any kind of low gearing mods

Is this a model with the AFM (air flow meter) on the chassis and an accordian tubing leading to the throttlebody? I recall several models having this problem. Just as you let out the clutch, the engine leans over and pulls open the cracks in the rubber parts, leading to starving engine and stumbling. My buddies Toyota had this, and my old Mazda 626 had it, duct tape was the quick fix.
