Anyone from texas going to the race? Im thinking about driving if someone wants to ride along. Gas would roughly be $600 total depending or where i pick you up from. Any takers?

There is a huge contingent from Dallas going.

I know of at least two of us that are likely going from Houston. I say "Likely" because one is on the fence. He wants to go but is currently finishing on his buggy. If its not done hes out.

Me on the other hand will be leaving wayyyy early to head out as I'm picking up a couple guys from my team in Phoenix and we are chasing for another team at the Parker 425 the weekend before KOH.

Any of you driving out that could potentially pick up some beadlocks for me at the Hammers and drop them off when you pass through Albuquerque on I-40?

Well, i went back and forth trying to decide if i was going or not. Ended up being one of the best decisions ive ever made! What an experience! Teh people, the rigs, and the landscape all came together to create an amazing experience. I flew out from houston tuesday evening and into ontario, ca about 8pm. Got to the lakebed around 10pm and proceeded to walk around hammertown for about an hour and a half in the RAIN! Yes, it does rain in the desert on occasion and it so happened to be the night i got in. So after my long and tiring search for the trailer i was supposed to be staying in, i found it and crashed out. Watched the 2nd day of the LCQ qualifier and was a bit disappointed by the lack of action, but it was to be expected with how the circumstances turned out. Partied at the King shocks party wed night and drank entirely too much jack d, you know, just cause lol.

Thursday morning is where things go differently than planned, so to say. i ended up in a pit crew for one of the f-toy teams! Pretty neat to see this race from the inside and the logistics involved in getting pit crews setup and all supplies needed to the right pits. Making sure enough tools and propane tanks were had, welders, generators, etc. About race mile 50 our car caught on fire twice within 100 yards and they called it quits not wanting to burn the rig down. After bringing all the tools and equipment back to the main pit, we took a ride over to sledgehammer canyon to watch the madness unfold. Literally, there was a parking lot at the top of three sandhills leading to the canyon. Probably 2000-2500 people lining the canyon walls and some even on the course(bad decision n their part, a few spectators in the wrong spots were airlifted out due to injuries). We only stayed for an hour or so since we were exhausted from chasing all day.

So ill be back next year, no doubt, and hopefully with my rig in tow! all in all a great adventure that i wont soon forget. I recommend everyone going to see it at least once if you like racing.

And pics from the trip of course!

Sorry guys, my grandmother got sick and we had to deal with that so I didn't ever get a chance to get in touch with anyone about a shirt. Oh well, get one next year maybe. Thanks guys!
