Any idea what you torque the wheel studs too?

I'm not sure, but I know they're not indestructable. I shreded the threads on one of my studs and nuts. It's a real PITA. I got impatient. Bad. Bad.

I have torque my by a star pattern to 85 ft/lbs first, then 125 ft/lbs final. I got that info from www.humvee.net info database.
165 sounds too high to me, I can feel them studs crying at 125.

turn it till it strips then back it off a quarter turn. that way you know you got everthing you can get on it. but i was in the same boat putting mine together and i just tighten them down till i stated cracking the original paint. but i don't think it was near 165. mike

1/2" drive ratchet with 2 foot handle + 2 foot cheater bar + 220 lbs of my fat ass = my torque specifications

Another thing to make note of is wetting the bead before you slip the wheel on. After stripping one stud, I did that on the other 3 wheels. They all went on considerably easier.

funny...i asked a motor t staff sgt. and i quote
"doc i just hit it with the impact wrench till it stops , might be around 100ftlbs but not sure and I have no clue where the PM manual is for bias rims. I have been doing it this way for the 6 years I have been here and havent had any problems as long as the tourque is even and tightened in your typical star pattern."

i say tighten them till ya think its right ! also are you still gonna use the metal runflat ring or are you turning it down smaller? they toss in a duct taped ziplock bag of grease to pop when the tire contacts so it doesnt chew up the insides.
any other military info ya need?

I was wondering why all of that damn duct tape was wrapped around the run-flats, now I know

I've heard that before but didn't think it was true about the grease....don't think that will work for Az Rockcrawling as when you airdown the bag will break everytime...that and the grease will seep...interesting idea and I assumed the military would do the impact route as that was what my buddy said but I don't trust him! I still might try the grease trick....don't want to cut down my sx's more then the current conditions....so how much grease does the military recommend?
