Well I did an engine swap this weekend and after I mounted the tranny the rear drive shaft is obout 1/2 to 1 inch off front he rear end. I have no Idea why I guess something moved when I went to drill out the skid plate or I just fawked up my measurements. It is a suttle missalignment and I was hopeing it would be okay? What do you boys think?? :flipoff2:

If you have a CV shaft (and if it runs smooth), I wouldn't sweat it. If you get vibes, fix it or you'll just eat joints.

Your trans mounts could be in the right place and still have teh rear output offset, did you offset your motor at least 1" to the passenger side? If you centered the motor, your rear yoke will be offset farther to the passenger side. I see a lot of engine swaps where the owner was too concerned with the motor being centered in the chassis to realize that it really should be offset, like the factory does it.

Yeah. I know a YJ engine should be offset an inch toward the passenger side. Not sure about the TJ but it seems likely...

If the front diff is on the driver's side, offset the drivetrain to the passenger side, if you're running passenger diff, offset to the driver's side. I've also seen swaps on YJ's where they offset the motor to the passenger side like the book said, but they were running passenger drop diffs and wondered why they were breaking starters with the front driveshaft.

The motor mounts are with in a 16th of an inch and offset one inch to the passanger side. Remarkably my stock driveshafts bolt right in with no mods to them. I set the engine as far back as possible for good weight distribution. I also seem to have more lift in the front than before!! After a test drive I will detremine wether or not I need to put in a CV drive shaft. I only got 2 1/2 inches of lift for now.

check to make sure the fan sits square with the radiator. might cause interference later.
