next weekend, I'm driving from the southeast corner of WA down to the Sacramento/Vacaville area. I'm fairly new to the west coast - should I be worried about snow on the main roads or any mountain ranges I gotta pass over? Is there a recommended route to get down there?

Guess it depends on what you feel like. Least passes you can take I-84 that will take you through The Dalles through the Columbia river gorge into Portland and hit I-5 south straight to Sac. With the exception of Grants pass down towards Medford and maybe around Mt Shasta area not sure on what elevation that is, been 12 years since I've drove through there. I dont know much about eastern OR, but I would think it would be a shorter more direct drive through there, but could hit some pretty bad roads too. Someone over that way I'm sure would know a decent route for E. Oregon.

Shortest route from southeast wa would be to take hwy 97 down to weed Ca then hop on I-5

Depends what kind of a drive your looking for. If you just want the fastest easiest way down there then just take I-84 to I-5 in Portland and then straight down to Sacramento.

To be honest, I'm just trying to find the easiest drive where I'm not gonna run into lots of traffic or any snow issues over mountain passes. I'm leaning towards the Portland->I-5->Sacramento route. It got cold out here in the last day or so, hope the snow stays away!
