Alright, get your minds outta the gutter. To more specific, I'm talking about the rear main bearing cap. Is the bearing cap puller fixture shown in the FSM necessary? or is there a home brew method of removing it that works just as well. I don't want to fuck anything up!!!

Maybe I've done it wrong all the time, but I just use a hammer and a small screwdriver/"pin" into the corners of the cap to block.

The ends of the caps have a little wedge cut out of 'em.. I presume for this purpose. ;)

Or have I been fawkin' everything up? :D

Did they have a wedge cut out of them before, or after you hammered a screwdriver in there??? ;)

BTW, per Tom's recommendation, I used the screwdriver technique also.. ;)

Could be the PO didn't now WTF he/she was doing, either.. and THEY put the notches in there..

But I swear the notches were in it when I got it. :D

I'm just careful to try and NOT scratch/gouge the block or cap.. but with a cheap screwdriver, it's not that hard to avoid. :D
