Buddy has a (NP231D HD) in his 99 dakota, V8, Auto.

His wife was driving it the other day, goes over some railroad tracks, and the t-case kicked itself outta gear.
Come to find out, the range fork is worn badly, evrything else looks great.

Question is, will the fork work out of a Jeep case (NP231J)???? I have searched exstensively and really haven't come up with a definate answer. I know there are some differences, such as a wider chain, and bigger bearings and such.

Just trying to get some info. before we go to the U-Pull it and waste money if it is different. Thanks for the help in advance.

I checked the part numbers on a '99 Dakota against those in a '99 Wrangler, both with NV231 transfer cases and yes, both the range fork and the mode fork are the same part number.
