Hey guys, where can I find the VIN plate or ID plate on a Series (say 63-67 year model). Mike had a good picture of one, but I am not sure where it is located. Is the frame stamped with the VIN? Are there any other tags or anything with the VIN on them?

Bill,
The VIN plate is located on a SII-SIIa inside the tray area, and is rivited to the bulkhead. It's on the side opposite the driver. The plate is above the lower curved tray, but below the upper flat tray, centered horizontally and vertically.
On a SIII the VIN plate is screwed to the bulkhead through the plastic insulation on the center of the bulkhead below the heater vents/hand throttle (I think, that's pretty close).
Frame #'s are stamped on the outside of the front frame horn on the RHS (oooh, now I can't remember exactly, I think that's close).
Someone better correct me before I start to think I'm right!

SII and SIIa were in the center of the bulkhead.
SIII (at least in the US) had two, one on the bulkhead and one on the door frame.
Plus the number on the front frame horn.

Also beware.....
i'm not 100% sure about series rigs, but defenders/rangie and disco's, there is another VIN number stamped INSIDE the chassis, usually the LH rear chassis rail, behind the rear crossmember.
it's stamped before they weld the 2 sides together, and that catches a lot of people out.
not that i'd know ANYTHING about this, if course...

Yeah, it's that 'secret' VIN that they go bonkers for.
When I took my Serious One into the Oregon State Police to have it inspected (I had no title, etc...), they immidiately looked for that hidden VIN. Assuming it had been constructed from a modern car frame that had been modified, they wanted to see if they could track it to see if it had been stolen, whatever.
When the guy couldn't find that VIN, he didn't look at anything else on the vehicle, came up to me and asked, "So, what's the story on your truck?".
I told him it was all original, and showed him a lot of stuff that he didn't know about the old LR's. I pointed out the frame VIN stamped on the frame motor mount (Cooper left it there on purpose for just such an occasion), the VIN plate on the bulkhead and then we went inside and he wrote me up.
It was kind of funny that I stumped the OSP inspector. I've since done my trailer in the exact same method. Now that he knows me pretty well, I'm tempted to take the crew cab up and have it inspected and titled in Oregon.
Funny thing about my crew cab's frame though, there is NO VIN stamped anywhere on the chassis. Just a batch no. Funny, hehe, as in *really* funny. The frame was a factory replacement, hence no VIN stamped into it.
Anyway, that's a little antecdote about frame VIN's (Bill, does that help you in any way???).
