OK, who wants in! We've got a few rigs headed up the weekend of Oct 26th. Camping, wheeling, the usual fun. Lower 2, Heli Pad, Slickrock, Schoolbus are on the agenda.

Ben-

Most of us will be showing up Friday evening, the guys from Roverclubhouse usually go up earlier that day. Maybe you could convoy with them since you have to come thru Raleigh anyway. It looks like between 9-10 hours from DC according to mapquest.
Have you run into this guy, he hasn't posted here in a while though.

John, I'll have to check with my schedule coordinator (read-My Wife!) and see what's on the calander. This time of year SUCKS! Family reunions out the ying-yang, along with b-days and holidays.

I was telling my wife this week that I'm getting bored with Uwharrie and MAR, and I REALLY want to hit Tellico. I'll check with Cirbus also.

Are you bringing your dog this trip ? If you bring Abbey ( think that was her name ) I will feel guilty for leaving Cassidy at home.

dude totally got screwed by some guy up here I am now on watch on saturday from noon to 8 pm so looks like it's a no go for me unless I can switch with someone but I'm guessing that's not going to happen. I am bound and determined to make it down there sometime soon. I'll be ready for the next trip for sure.

22: Merge onto US-74 W. 85.51 miles

23: Turn RIGHT onto PEACHTREE ST. 0.57 miles

24: Turn LEFT onto US-19 BR. 0.03 miles

Total Estimated Time: Total Distance:
6 hours, 40 minutes 354.73

SWFWDA site:

From the Murphy McDonalds, go north on Hiawassee to the first traffic light. Turn left to go north on Tennessee (which turns into Joe Brown Hwy, Route 1326) for 2.8 miles. Turn right at flashing yellow lights onto Hanging Dog Road (Route 1331) and go 5.5 miles (do not go onto Boiling Springs Rd; Hanging Dog Road eventually changes into Beaver Dam Road). Turn right on Davis Creek Rd, which is initially paved, but soon turns into a single lane gravel road. Beware of parked cars, roadside fishermen, wildlife, and oncoming traffic. After 6.4 miles, it leads to the Allen Gap staging area, the location of the entrance bulletin board and pay station. After the entrance station, the gravel road becomes Trail #1. It is an additional 5.2 miles to the intersection of Trails #1 and #5, a popular staging area. The gravel road up to Allen Gap is passable by all vehicles, including small trailers. Do not take over-sized or low clearance vehicles beyond Allen Gap! The trip from Murphy to Tellico takes 40-60 minutes, depending on your speed.

You will come across a wooden bridge that "T"s in front of you, trail 5 is to the right, go left to continue towards the campsites. Just after trail 6(on your left) you will cross a small creek on a concrete v ramp. That is basically the state line, start looking for us at that point. We will try to camp as close to this point as possible depending on availability. Look for Sean's black dually with the LR logo on the doors. If you can give us an hour or so window as to when you'll be there, we can plan to be off the trail to meet you.

If all state line sites are full plan B is to camp at Spivey Cove. Travel in the same direction past state line sites and several miles down the road you will come to Green Cove hotel, ect(on your left). Several hundred yards past that on the right is Spivey Cove(marked by a forest service sign).

See you there!
