Well since no one has a set of used ome to sell I have been checking into new springs and wanted a little input from those who own ome springs. Would you use their medium /heavy duty springs or the heavy duty springs with the follow:

Rear Bumper with swingaway tire carrier on the left side
38 gallon extended range tank
arb front bumper with winch
Typical trail load with roof rack loaded also.

Thanks for your input

I have the heavys front and rear on my FJ40, they still flex and ride much better than stock springs. all the heavys are is an add a leaf, just like the #3 in the pack. When you order your springs they come seprate from the pack, you have to disassemble the spring pack and install the extra leaf. The spring alignment pin is extra long just for this kind of upgrade, so don't buy new ones. I would also recomend getting some graphite paint and paint all the leaves when they are apart, as for some stupid reason OME does not do a good job on rust proofing them!
for $1200.00 in springs you would think they would be rust free!!

I keep wondering why I post some comments then realize, again, there is another Scott Cruzilla

I also agree that they should be coated inside  for the money. Have you looked under a new truck lately.....they don't paint much under there....

I had OME springs on my cruiser & in my opinion they are not worth near what they cost. mine were really stiff & rode terribly compared to my SOA stock springs. I would go w/ custom alcan springs & if you have fab skills get them made a few inches longer for a softer ride & better flex. you'll have to relocate your hangers but in my opinion it would be well worth it. the only time I liked my OME springs was if I hit a speed bump at speed they would absorb quite a bit of the impact.

There's a little confusion too, I think one (or both) of you was in trails. I think there's an East Coast cruzilla/cruzila and a west coast one too....! Is that Garden City, NJ?

Yea, my rig was in the trails a few months ago, part of a writup on our local chapter of the TLCA, North West Cruisers (nwcruisers.com) Perhaps this is where you saw one of us?

cruzila,
One of these days we are going to have to hookup and do some wheeling, that will really catch them off guard, bolth of us on the trail at the same time to!

imo ome gear is over priced. with yer springs, pull them apart and coat them with grease something like lthium based ep, stuff that will stick like shit to a blanket, lessens corrosion.
