Need some info about scouts if anybody is willing to help. The rig is a 1973 Scout II and I plan on taking the axles and the transfer case and putting it in another vehicle. Is the transfer case worth taking or not, is going to hold up to V8 power and 33's. Please help I don't know crap about Scouts.

T-case isn't worth shit. It's chain driven and the chains are no bigger than bike chains. I don't know WTF IH was thinking:shaking: Been thru three in a year before I sold my scout

Those scout axles are unique and will only work in a scout, good luck trying to make them work in another vehicle

Don't forget that the U-joints are Metric on those axles.

and on top of that if it's the one with the internal yoke support it will never last with anything larger than 29.5's to 31's.save you money and do the double zh41 swap that alotta guy's run, there super strong and you can make the adapter for next to nothing yourself.plus with this design you have your choice of output location for the rear shaft,high/low or off center.

you can use the axles but you will have to shorten the front stubbs and spinn the housing, just don't go to far.

as for the rear, you will have to shorten the pass side and add the difference to the driver side, respline pass side only.

hope this helps, gotta any pics of the build

I'd stay with the Dana 28 you have already. Unless I am missing something...

You better start looking for Rockwells and a STAK if you want any chance of running a V8 and 33's.

Just a few things.
1. The scout II axles use the metric U-joints as previously stated.
2. Also, the bolt pattern on said axles is unique to scouts only and you will be stuck with the stock 15" wheels. There really is no aftermarket support for these either.
3. The transfer case is junk and will not hold up to 33's and V8 power.
4. It won't hold up to 33's in general and should not be used.
5. In order for you to make this swap work, you chomp down some plate glass for the minerals and some Bleach to wash it down so it doesn't get stuck.

Gust save your self the trouble and seal it all to me for $5:D:flipoff2:. Every thing you have is worthless. Only a scout person can make that stuff work.
