I am thinking on going to the d-300 and a flip kit on my s-10 will it bolt up to the chevy 6 bolt patern? Any help would be great.

Well, as I recall, you can't bolt a Jeep NP231 case in place of a Chevy NP231 or NP207, even if the splines matched, I think either the Chevy had a 5-bolt circular pattern, or a six bolt pattern that was clocked different than the Jeep. The Dana 300 has a 23 spline input, your S-10's 700R4 or T5 has a 27 spline output, so you'd need to buy a new output shaft, if the factory pattern is just clocked wrong for the Jeep t-case, there are some clocking rings available that might solve the problem, not sure if they would have enought positions drilled to correcte enough. You could always buy *cough* *cough* a Dana 300 / 700R4 adapter, the T5 was available in Jeep with the Dana 300, so if you're runing an manual, a Jeep T-5/Dana 300 combo might work, then you'd still need the flip kit, sounds expensive.

For that kind of money, why not just get the tera low 4:1 kit for your 231.

Are you planning on more power and taller tires?

shaw there is no 4:1 kit for the 231c and yes I an going to put a 383 in place of the 4.3

I might be able to get the 4:1 kit to fit in the 231c but I dont have the 1000.00 to blow right now.

I will be going to go with doul sm420's if it will fit. That would elimenate the problem with the d-300

There is, or there isn't a Tera kit for the 231c. I was thinking of saving for one.

there is NOT a 4:1 kit for the 231c. But if you want to go to the 231j you need the 6 bolt adapter for your trans. it was used in 97 and up on the s-10s

Then how is this possible? I would really like the 4:1 low ratio when I rebuild my 231. What would be involved in "getting the 4:1 kit to fit"?

you would have to press out the old planitary gear ring and pressin the new ring the only problem is that you will remove the metal that is behind the ring apone remaval. It would be better to go with the 6 bolt patteren adapter for the s-10. Then you can use the 231jeep t-case and just replace the front of the case with the new front half with the 4:1 planitary kit.

Shaw just do this. If you call and get the 4:1 kit from Tara Low all you need to do is use the rear half of you 231c and it will bolt in to your truck with the adapter from chevy. I will get you the part# tomarrow.

shaw one more thing to do. When you get the new kit from Tara low you have to change out the input shaft in the new case the jeep one is 23 spline and the chevy one is 27 spline.

Only $30 at gmpartsdirect.com. Exactly, what purpose does the adapter serve. Will the tera low kit come with a different trans. bolt patern?

the tera kit is for the 231jeep it has a six bolt patteren and the ghevy has a five bolt patteren up until 95 the 96 and up are six bolt patteren. you will still have to change out the input shaft to the chevy one.

ive got a 97 s10 with nv3500 and 231. so are you saying my tcase has the same pattern as the 231j? which means i could bolt a d300 up as long as i get a 27 spline input for it???

this would be nice. I was just about to swap out my trans and tcase for a 465->d300 combo, but if i can bolt a d300 right to my nv3500 without much trouble thats the way ill go.
