Will do man. We still have the tubed CJ but it's on rockwells now and I've put my heavy rockwelled rig out to pasture for a while. I'm in a built Zuki but I'm still learning how to drive the damn thing. It goes like hell but it's taken some getting use to not having any power or 4 wheel steer.

I just wanted to see what all this talk was about the small rigs and how good they would go.:shaking: That and the old lady like how this one rides so it makes it a little easier to spend money on all the rockcrawling trip we make.

A few of the guys in our group went to small rigs but most of them are still rolling on Rockwells. It was nice pulling my rig up to Hot Springs a few weeks ago and getting 16 MPG compared to the 9 MPG pulling my rockwelled rig. :smokin:

Okay, mine is is back up to fighting weight!!!! Fired it up Sat evening, after an entire day wrenching, driving from Vinita to Tulsa and back for a starter/cylenoid and a few other assorted gremlins, but fixed a few that were there before the engine swap too!!! Runs clean and I love the new seats. (Corbeaus are worth every damn penny you spend on them!!!!) Here's what all we did:

swapped a drowned 5.3 Vortec out for a running 5.3 Vortec
added front window bars
added seat mount tubing
added seats
added spanner tube from B to C pillar
new stinger
radiator hoop
mounted console and relocated CB here
finally got oil pressure and tach gauges that work!

All that is left is getting rear Corbeau mounted and tying cage to the frame and take out body lift. BMR is gonna be FUN!!!!

So, I'll see yall there with bells on and ready to roll!!!!!!

Well, I've started packing for myyear long Adventure begining with John Sumners Big Meats Run in Disney, Oklahoma! Picked up this '97 Kodiak custom built with a fullsize sleeper box which will serve as my change of address for the next year. All I have todo now is bolt all of the bent and wrinkled sheetmetal back on the Scout, mount the 4 new tires for my trailer then go rent a tow dolly for the YJ. I plan to leave Virginia Wednsday morning and roll into Tulsa Thusday evening. Just enough time to drop the Jeep and kick off some luggage and head on to Hogans Friday morning. I will be giving away 5 FREE ENTRIES to a Superlift 4xAdventure Event of your choice! Check out our website (www.4xAdventures.com) for Event dates and locations as we will be wheeling the Superlift ORV Park in Hot Springs, AR both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends as well as Clayton, Oklahoma July 4th weekend! I'm sure there would be seats available for you to ride. Going to be a big party like always.

I know, but I'm going to stay and collect some OT while it's available since I won't get to drive my rig anyway.

Wife is packing today while I'm at work. No motivation to work today though so the day is going by slow. Sounds like a few more from my group dropped out due to rig issues but we'll still have fun hanging out with the rest of the crew and everyone else. Hope to roll in around 10 or so and relax tonight.

See everyone there!

Thanks for the Compliment! It WAS a Hell of a trip but none-the-less, it was well worth the challenges! I had a great time meeting new faces as well as reconnecting with old ones. Thanks to Russ Hogan for Hosting this Event at his Campground and John and Eddie Sumner for their 10 years of Hopitality and Dedication to great service and Innovation in our sport! As some of you may know, I had a slight delay crossing the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Line on I-40 as a tire blew out on the trailer causing the hitch ball to snap off the reciver sending both of my trailers and my Jeep and Scout tumbling into the median coming to rest a foot from the oncoming traffic lane! Luckily, no one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved in the accident and I was able to drive the Scout back onto the trailer after changing a tire with the help of two guys that stopped by to lend a hand.

By the way, I lost my wallet sometime on Saturday at the campground (Russ Hogans) and if anyone had seen it, I wouldnt expect any money in it (several hundred dollars) but I really would like to get my Drivers License back as it is from Virginia and it is going to be a nightmare to get a new one since I will be here in Oklahoma for the rest of the year, as well as a few other personal items.

After a liberal use of zipties, I was able to secure the body panels back on until I got a new box of rivats to properly secure the panels.

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00081.jpg

First stop was the Rock Garden and the near verticle "Picture Rock" that cooincidentally I had posed on at my Going Away wheelin party in 2004...

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00086.jpg

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00085.jpg

Next up I wanted to try a technical climb opposite the Grand Staircase and despite making this climb many times in the past, these obstacles have changed considerably since I was last here in 2004! I managed to wedge my left rear tire in an undercut ledge snapping the outter stub shaft on the Rockwell axle! I must say "There's nothing like the sound of an axle shaft letting go! and only one sound is better than the sound of an axleshaft letting go and that is someone elses axle shaft letting go!"

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00090.jpg

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00092.jpg

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00089.jpg

An Impressive break I must say as the outter stub broke in two places, the first a clean break inside the drive flange and the second a shattering splinter inide the spindle which had to be drove out with a steel driver and a sledgehammer!

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00093.jpg

I was able to find a spare short side steering axle assembly over at the Austin Family Stables as Brad and his Family welcomed me in the drizzling rain as they ate lunch! After a little ancient duct tape removal and some fresh grease, the axle was installed and the Scout was back in action! Some relaxing around the campfire and the telling of some pretty tall tales ensued as we all looked forward to the impending chaos and carnage that was to come on Saturday.

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00016.jpg

The Rock Garden was once again lined with some of the best rigs in the South Central United States and a Peanut Gallery that would intimidate some of the more timid drivers!

Ken Blume was showing off his prowess in the rocks in his competition rock buggy and made quick work of the Rock Garden!

http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac245/slipscomb2/Big%20Meats%20Run%202010/DSC00004.jpg

I had tried a few lines on the Grand Staircase but to no avail as the rocks at the bottom have been litterally polished form all the attempts so I skipped the bottom and went straight to the top and set up for a challenging climb on the tallest part of the top ledge. John Herrick from CRAWL Magazine had just caught up with me and set up to photograph the attempt! I set up for the approach and easily got my front tires up the slightly undercut wall but as I set the Scout up for a rather unconventional line the right rear tire pulled me straight up and over to the right! Not sure what happened next but the ride was loud and punishing as it was reminicent of the plane crash I was in in 2001. After I crawled out of the truck I thought we had rolled all the way to the bottom but seeing we were still on the second ledge from the top I felt kind of CHEATED! All that and I only rolled a 3/4 turn! After some help from a few friends, the Scout was righted and lowered back down to the bottom for a full damage report. A busted distributor cap and rotor, snapped dipstick tube at the block, peeled roof pan off and a punctured sidewall on the right front tire. Some quick trail repairs and after pulling a few spark plugs to clear out the cylinders I was on my way back to Hogans to try and repair the tire and prepare for the raffle at 6 pm.

At the raffle I was able to speak about the upcoming Superlift 4xAdventure Series trail ride series and gave away 6 Gift Certificates for Free Entry into any of the 6 Events we will be Hosting this year. Afterwards I was abe to finish the repair on patching the sidewall on my 44" TSL and got it remounted on the Scout in preparation for a night run and continued meeting some great people and old friends alike. As I lined up for the night run however, I realized the front steering ram was in fact blown out as the hydraulic fluid was simply pouring out onto the ground so I returned it to the trailer as she was to be done for the weekend! Climbing down out of the Scout however, I managed to slip and fall catching my left leg in the ramp and landing on my hand breaking my pointer finger on my right hand! It may have been around ths point that I somehow lost my wallet allowing someone to pick it up and walk off with it! I truly hope that someone may find whats left of the contents of my wallet and can send them to me here in Tulsa, Oklahoma!

Another great Event completed and I hope to see more Sumner Machine Works Products long into the future! I am now getting the Jeep ready for our next trip to Moab, Utah for Easter Jeep Safari then down to WE-Rock in Tucson, AZ before heading over to Terlingua, Texas for the Opening Event of the Superlift 4xAdventure April 30th-May 2nd! See everyone on the Trails!

Not doomd at all! always push the limits when I'm in the Scout and it usually shows.
