I'm going to stretch the rear of my samurai after I tear the sides of the bed off. I'd like to know if it's possible to move the stock gas tank up into the bed area right behind the driver.

Pics of your setup would be cool.

I got pics of my new tank location here: http://photobucket.com/jamesdeansjeep

it's in front of the axle just showing the top through the bed. made a custom holder for it. in one pic I'm standing in it. there's a swivel fuel pickup I made so it'll pick up from the bottom of the tank no matter which way it's tilted.

Definitely possible, pretty straight forward

One of those ‘this will work for today’ that becomes semi-permanent. I bolted the stock skid to the floor, then the tank to the skid. Passed CA smog with it too (as it should)

Hmmm I was hoping to have room for the tank and a single bucket seat behind the driver. Maybe not, tank is bigger than I thought it was.

Hey that looks pretty good :D

The stamped 10.6g tank does take up a healthy amount of room. I have measured a few times, and a 15 gallon cell could easily take up the same space. I remember 4RnrRick’s Samurai (RIP his build thread :flipoff2: ) and he had a 19 gallon cell side-by a rear kids seat. With some careful planning, I am sure it could work with the stock tank
