No Drive shafts till the tranny and T cases are in, and I still have the Champions. However the Locks are going to be sporting some 37" MTR's for Compition.

We went back to the con last weekend and the RingR/toy stuff works AWESOME. Too bad a few people on this BBS chased Kerry off. He's a cool guy, and his adapters are 2nd to no one...better than damn near anything out there.

applied technologies right down the street from me had it ON THE SHELF for 13 bucks :)

BTW what clutch plate did you decide to go with?? i ordered teh 71ish celica one since i didn't have to grind any on it, i think that was like 18 bucks?

also, have you done the throw out bearing yet Phatty?? have fun and i suggest a respirator the material that's made of is nasty to breathe :D

found a local place that has the bearing, so I'm set on that one. and it's not Applied Technologies. :)

The 70/71 celica clutch plate is on order, (yea, nobody around here stocks it...) got everything else.

Looks like I might get done before Fatty does.

You guys now the diameter of that Celica disk? I'm going to need a disk that is about a 1/2" smaller the the Toyota truck disk for my Mitsubishi engine swap into Toyota driveline.

Thanks,

tdavis

The pilot bearing is SKG/FAG 16101.

The throwout is any 1.6/1.3 throwout bearing (they appear to be identical to me)

i am not sure if they are the same or not, but you do have a little bit of boring to do... the center of the bearing is made of a nylon/poly type stuff and took about 10 min to make fit properly with a small air wheel...

Dychen
10-03-2002, 02:29 PM
snowline gas station in pollick pines (spelling) sells it, and last time i heard it was the cheapest propane in the area (under a buck a gallon). I think you might be able to get some at robs to. Not to mention, if you got a propane stove or if anyone else does, you can get yourself more propane :D

They're not...some don't have the plastic inner race. I hogged mine out with a small sanding drum almost the same size as the bearing ID on the drill press. It took 5 minutes to get a cozy slip fit.

tdavis
10-03-2002, 08:04 PM
well, the pipsqueak bearing was the second easiest part to get. :) (the throwout bearing was on the shelf at the local Kragens). Got the rest on order - pressure plate (aka, clutch cover) and toy celica disk.

The throwout bearing I was given has the same part # as the 1.3 bearing (according to http://www.partsamerica.com) and it has no plastic sleeve in it. Come to think about, I'm comparing it to a 1991 samurai, which they might have upgraded it..

a 4" rear drive shaft?...hahaha

fatkid

say about 12.5"

The rear Drive shaft measures around 30"

Ok, I just stopped by the local NAPA, and they don't have it in stock - and list two different manufacturers for it.

Who made the one your using?

I just measured the toy tranny, and it's 35mm in size, and the chicago rawhide (pn N4092) is 33mm in size.

So, HELP!

tdavis
10-07-2002, 07:39 AM
Yea, it is. I've got it, and it does have to be cut down to fit - it's waaaay too wide. If you do come up with something, I can always sell it and get my money back.

But I'm kinda in a hurry now. :D

I have to figure out what to do on the passenger side inner frame rail. It's covered with fuel and brake lines, so I have to either re-route or come up with a way to mount over/under them.

Damn.. when i was going to be hanging my toyota's divorced with the OTT, I drew up some plates like that for the front and the rear, and had my laser cutter pull one of each for $40 (the minimum order). You could just cut some up with a torch for even less.

The Skid plate is a different story.. I wasn't going to run one. At most I was going to run a flat plate from frame rail to frame rail since I had the whole thing mounted up that high. :)

Now that I'm taking a new direction with the project, I will see. I do not think the t-cases will be mounted as high anymore. Still not sure the need for the skid plate under a Samurai is needed if you have rubber mounts that have some give to them. I used to roll the GRS2 around on the ocasional rock that got up there, and had no problems at all. but this new vehicle will be seeing more abuse more often... your milage may very.
