we buy all of that kind of stuff (3M abrasives) from RS Hughes. they might have someplace local to you.

other place would be wttool.com for off-brand and import abrasives.

I don't use much Roloc but lots of velcro-backed Scotchbrite. I get 'em in packs of 10 from MSC. MSC frequently does an abrasive section or "manufacturer's showcase" w just 3M products. I do usually see the Rolocs in there too. I don't know how prices compare but the convenience is high for me.

Of course Harbor Freight does also sell their own generic Roloc, but I doubt quality is near that of 3M, and IIRC they only come in variety packs.

25pack sold by 50 or 100 on ebay.

I forget the seller since I stocked up on them and haven't needed anymore lately.

Shop around, then contact direct to avoid ebay fees for them.

H-F has them in packages of the varying grades, BUT, as youmight expect, they are junk. I wear them out very quickly and have begun buying small quantities from Napa.

I just placed an order with Kimball-midwest for a bunch of abrasives to finally stock up on good stuff. Expensive, but worth it to have good abrasives.

X2. One problem I've also had is the HF version snapping the plastic roloc off and you have to dig them out, prior to replacing the disc. Pain in the Arse.

my question is do you really need to use roloc pads for what your going? a 4.5in grinder bight be a bit quicker and last longer, even with a sanding disc on it.

I don`t use them all that often but they are great when needed.

I just get boxes of 25 for steel and aluminum from my local independent auto parts vendor.

about the only time they get used is cleaning off old gaskets

Get a job in a machine/fab shop...I get these from a friend that works in our sheet-metel dept. . They're used but only worn on the first 1/8" , I've got 5 more drawers just like it to ..gloat:flipoff2:

When I used to buy disc's I found out early that you need to bite the bullet and get a large quantity that might last you years..buying them 10 at a time isn't cost effective (sp?).

Sweet. I get mine in boxes of 25 or 50 from eBay. My last order has lasted me a couple of years so I'm sure whatever I spent was worth it. FWIW I bought Norton brand and they work and last the best for me.

This company is local to me, but will ship anywhere. I have used the roloc flap discs and they are awesome. Scotchbrite type are 50 cents each.

These are not cheap but are superior to the green ones. They last a lot longer.

I get mine from work, we buy in the thousands at a time so I either toss them a few bucks or they give me 2-300 disks when I need them for free :D

I was searching for surplus air cylinders and came across this site and thought of you guys... I have never used roloc disks myself, but it looks like what you guys are talking about. Seemed pretty cheap.

those are them alright, its just too bad the grits are so fine... if that's what you need though, that's a great deal at 10 cents a piece.
