WE have a 2000 tahoe With a 6" lift and 285/75/16s (33")on it. Been having some annoying vibrations coming from the front end and overall crappy ride. It is currently on BFG M//Ts and I have always hated the road noise that comes with these tires.

I just took it into the tire shop and looks like the tires are starting to get some high and low spots, So The wife is gonna let me pull the trigger on a new set of tires for it. I have some toyo M/Ts on 2 of my other trucks and like the ride and they are quite, But I am open to suggestions on other tires out there as well.

It is mostly a DD and a few times a year we take it hunting or to the mountains for camping, other than that it is on road driving. I would like something that is quite with good road manners and decent off road traction.

Thanks

Well this should be in the noob section, but swamper truxxus M/T's (35x12.50) are my favorite on the tow rig. Ride better and quieter than the nitto terra Crapler (which such ass). You dont get stuck in wet grass like with the nittos. Ill never run a different tire on my tow rig.

Oh, and no tire is going to cure that bs ifs front ends issues. All tires will cup and wear unevenly, unless you rotate all the time, rebalance them and have no slop in anything in the front end (which is nearly impossible after 100 miles). I have the 1 ton version of that ifs on my tow rig and it breaks all the time on the street. Put it in 4wd and try to drag something and you can just about guarantee a bent tie rod and center link. Got a 60 for it to cure this bs.

Unless they have to be mud tread, Nitto terra grappler has good wear
characteristics, as does the toyo open country a/t.

If you need more aggressive than that, consider M/T Radial Claw,
the overlap of the directional tread minimizes cupping.
( to some extent, the Inferior Front Suspension will still cup )

My nittos brought the suck. Not good for shit. Rough street ride, no traction off the street. A pointless mall crawler tire IMO.

But as you stated, they do wear evenly, even on a well worn out IFS.

Those m-16s also look like a good choice too, but I have no first hand exp with them.

i had a set of 31'' bfg all terrains and they done great on the ifs and they wore very good and done good in the mud. my buddy had a set of thornbirds on his and they done very good too and wore good. i think both are good tires for your needs.

[I] had a set of 35" all terrains on an old ford I had. I will never own another set of those again, Hate the looks and they did terrible on the farm I worked at.

I have been looking at the goodyear duratracs and mtrs as well. looking to spend $1000-1200 for a set of 315/75/16s

Thornbirds all the way...

My 33" Thornbirds started separating at 5000 miles. I will NEVER even look at them again, and laugh at the next sorry sucker that puts them on with a smile. Side lugs look cool at the mall.

My vote is BFG. Ive had good luck with them.

I think triangle shaped wooden wheels would work best.:p

I've seen strange wear patterns on front tires on semi trucks, that happens from a variety of reasons, alignment, tire pressure, balance, etc. You have to take care of your tires.

My BFG KM2's are quiet as hell. Maybe weight makes a difference my rigs about 2000 lbs

i have 38/15.50/20 Mickey Thompson MTZ's on my tow pig and they are the shizznit! Toyo MT's also have a good ride and minimal wear issues.

I really like the 33" MT-R's on a my farm truck. I have used a lot of tires and they are a very good compromise of street/noise/mud/dirt/treadwear. I am on my second set and when these are done I will buy a third set. I am also thinking about trying the retreaded MT-R's they have at treadwright.com.
