: Week of KOH: let's ride
fuggy 01-11-2010, 05:31 AM So with KOH being around the corner and I know many people will be taking the week off (Feb 8-14th).....anyone want to show some AZ boys around?
Looking for good motorcycle-friendly singletrack! Anything like this exist near camp? :D
Easypops and Randybuilt= ride leaders? :flipoff2:
onetoncv 01-11-2010, 07:34 AM that sounds like a great idea- If I could wiggle 30 hours off i'd be there- for a night ride! Jess
It is JV make your own singletrack
I'm down:smokin: just picked up a BRP
dog walker 01-11-2010, 08:00 PM I'll be there with my bikes.
fuggy 01-12-2010, 05:54 AM There's gotta be some sweet singletrack nearbye that only the locals know about....:grinpimp:
Tim Florian 01-12-2010, 07:29 AM I'm game. I'll be there all week and am looking at putting some miles on the 450. Hopefully Randy will have time to lead some rides. He has a ton of miles in out there.
jedrattle 01-12-2010, 09:29 AM I am bringing my bike.:D

Fuggy, this is your idea, you're a natural born leader.
Last KOH, I never found any "good motorcycle friendly single track", hopefully Randy knows some. Plenty of sugar sand buggy trails, ok when going fast enough to get on top of the soft stuff, but it's work up to that point. Ventured thru some of the canyons east across Means Dry lake, plenty rocky.
I'm more familiar with the Lander/Big Rock area, just south of Means/Hammers area, not nearly as sandy. Trails everywhere, lots of high speed possibilities.
I'll be up for riding anywhere out there in JV.
Gene
I will be there with my bike and some friends as well. I have a rookie and some kids so we will see what kind of rides I am able to do. I will be giving my son his crf50 out there. turning 5 on 2/13.:grinpimp:
I have seen some interesting stuff on the other side of the highway from ghost rd. I don't know if I could find it again though.
fuggy 01-14-2010, 10:23 AM I PM'ed Randy and alerted him to this thread.
If he can't lead a bunch of misfits on two wheels around JV, then I'm pretty sure we could get Mustard Dog to go anywhere on his quad....with no helmet....hauling ass with one hand holding a beer.
fuggy 01-28-2010, 09:28 PM just over a week left until dirt biking at the Hammers! Maybe even some ladies will show up! :smokin:

anybody want to do a dual sport ride over to joshua tree NP one day? Don't think its that far. would like to see it while we are so close. dave
Jeff Knoll 01-29-2010, 07:37 PM Every year I hope to get a ride in and so far I get just a few short rides.
I need to do a run around the course and look at markers on Thursday, I will be looking for someone to ride with. See me on the lakebed after the side x sides leave if you want to do a course flyby. Bikes can make short work of it for the most part.
easyspops 01-30-2010, 08:58 PM What are you riding Jefe, and what time do the UTV's take off? I'll be happy to ride with you. May need to refuel around the 100 mile mark, is that a problem?
See you on the lakebed, Gene.
GCR Big Chief 02-01-2010, 01:34 PM So I am bringing my bike out to KOH. I have a CRF 230 and I live in Denver, but i am wondering if i have to rejett my bike for being at about sea level and if so does anyone know what i need to set it at or what jets i need?
Thanks for the help!! Cant wait for KOH!!:smokin:
FatCity 02-01-2010, 06:26 PM I'm bringing my 600. There's tons of single track north west of Soggy Dry lakewhich is only 10-15 miles west of the Hammers lake bed.
Perhaps a ride out to Slash X for some beers and lunch and back?
Or work our way to Pioneer town for the same?
Who's in? I dont have any problem leading.
Eric

We're racing Parker the weekend before, so it kind of depends on the condition of the car...
I may have my little blue/white Baja or a bright Green LJ with Ten Factory on the Door.
"92" 34' Class A Bounder mtorhome w/ black trailer on the back w/ Motive Gear decals on the fenders.
Just start yelling "Free Beer" and I'll be one of the many people running up to you...

I'm game as long as I don't need a plated bike??? (I'm on a 07 crf 450r) What day do you want to do it. We could meet up at one of the vendor tants at a certain time to save the hassle of trying to find each others camps.
fuggy 02-02-2010, 11:24 AM I'm game for any day except LCQ and Race Day. Mon afternoon or Tues. would work. I'm on yellow 05 DRZ 400.
We could meet up near start/finish line...
or
under the coolest flag at Hammertown.....:D

Tim Florian 02-02-2010, 01:25 PM How long will it take to get to slash x? I'm thinking we should meet up at like 11 a.m. Tuesday at the start finish line. Ride to Slash for lunch and beverages, and ride back. Does that sound o.k. to everyone?

BadAZYj 02-02-2010, 07:17 PM Any idea the mileage on said ride? Id like to join, but can only do 40-45 miles before running out of gas... I plan on carrying a small msr fuel bottle and some premix so i can borrow gas if need be but id rather not have to...
FatCity 02-02-2010, 07:22 PM Hang tight, trying to figure out my schedule now (changing a bit). May have to be Thursday...
SlashX would take us about 3 hours, maybe less. Good ride though.
Tim,
Do you have a light?

It's probably 40-45 each way. I carry over 5 gallons, so if we need to syphon a Gallon or two out for other riders it's not a problem.
I can carry a 2 Litre in my pack also if needed
fuggy 02-06-2010, 06:46 PM See you guys on the lake(bed)!
Should be good riding weather!:mr-t:

dmsFab 02-08-2010, 12:08 PM Let me know what day you guys decide to go for a ride. I am at KOH right now and have no idea where to ride. There is a shit-load of trails but I am by myself and dont like getting to far off in the hills.
I am riding a TTR-250 with a 7" HID headlight! I am very easy to spot.......atleast at night anyways!! Hit me up and I will go for a spill! I am street legal too, so that might help alittle on the trails we choose.

Nice riding with you on Tuesday! Too bad those other suckers bailed cause they missed out on that secret trail we found to 'Copper Canyon' where there was a boatload of topless girls and free beer all to ourselves!

Dammit! I knew that would happen...
Was to busy all week, my bike never even came off the trailer.
easyspops 02-20-2010, 08:50 PM Chad, sorry I missed you at KOH, looked all over the north end of the lakebed for a white DR. Didn't have many chances to ride anyways, trailed Rick on one of his pre-runs, he left me in the dust in the whoops. When you get ready to ride your loop, keep me in mind, I'd like to do it too.

No prob Gene! I ride a yellow DRZ....so that may be why you missed seeing me. I looked for you on Sat/Sun after the race be everyone was gone.
I did ride out to Crowbar the morning of the race and got to see EZ come screaming past as the first car. It was awesome. :grinpimp: Congrats to the team and all the efforts you guys put in! Impressive racing for sure.
Let's ride soon. Superloop needs to dry out still from snow and rains. :)

Crap Chad, thought the picture you posted was a white bike.
Had to leave Saturday morning, had a party in Parker to attend. Sorry I missed you.
Did get to speak to Randy, his group got a lot of rides in.
I had to do pit duty after all. Thanks for the props.
I'm about ready for a ride, keep in touch.
Gene
FatCity 02-21-2010, 08:55 PM Damn...
I hung out on Sunday for most of the day. Would have loved to squeeze in a Sunday ride...

Hell yeah man, those chics were pretty bangin! I had a great time riding out there, altho you were the only person I ended up riding with. I ended up burning 13 gallons of gas in the bike and I figure the little TTR gets about 40 ish miles to the gallons! Needless to say I was tired as hell all weekend!:D

Kawierider 02-01-2012, 09:41 AM Hey Guys. I will be arriving on the lakebed on Weds and camping with the 9009 team.
I would like to tag along on the Thursday ride so if the plan is to meet at 10am at the start finish line I will see you all there. I'll be riding a KLX450r so my range will be about 40-50 miles and I will plan on bringing a few liters of spare fuel along.
For those of you that are carrying spare fuel (without a large capacity tank) what is your prefered method? Most of the trail loops here in Michigan are ok with my current range :(
stretchednstroked 02-02-2012, 02:13 PM Uhh hate to tell you this bro but old thred.... like years old... so you missed the Thursday ride by a bit.
But Im sure there will be a few people down to ride this year. I might bring my bike over a time or two starting this weekend but I have a broken wrist so have to take it easy while riding haha.

Oops:rolleyes: never looked at the date after I did my search! Anyway, I'm still game for a thursday ride, I'll likely be introducing myself to anyone with a bike on Weds. Stop by the 9009 camp if your interested....don't be too hard on that wrist
stretchednstroked 02-03-2012, 06:23 PM Just went down and checked out the lake today and there are quite a few people that brought bikes and quads and a ton of atv things. Shouldnt have an trouble finding people to ride with. Im thinking of taking the dirtbike out there tomorrow.
fuggy 02-04-2012, 09:20 PM I'll be out there riding again this year. Yellow DRZ still, plan on Tues-Sat this coming week. Several others I know are also bringing the bikes. Wednesday is pre-riding the 65 mile King of the Moto's course. Thursday is volunteering at checkpoint 1 for the KOM race then riding around to see them finish.
Bikes are the best way to see all the action the quickest!
IRUNROCKS 02-06-2012, 04:07 PM Wednesday is pre-riding the 65 mile King of the Moto's course.
This i gotta see, you bringing an actuall "dirt bike" or that yellow turd?

At least I don't have to use my sig line to find parts for Yamacrap! :flipoff2:
fuggy 02-06-2012, 05:53 PM Talked to my buddy Brent today that rode the KOM course. He said the course is super hard. No joke, he had trouble walking up section of it in moto boots! They were out there today marking the course.
Sounds like just finishing this will be a huge achievement!
My bike would need a winch and front wheel drive to finish in 24 hours. :p
