Ok im done laughing......

On a serious note, there nothing wrong with these questions. Everyone has them in the begining....

Can we get a FAQ type thing like the toy section has? I have been able to answer almost all of my toy axle questiong by just re(re)ading the 1 thread.....

I mean eveyoen has the same ?s

Axle swaps,
kick/zuke gear swap/fitment
Power steering
engine swap
tranny swaps
etc....

i think its be easy to collect all this stuff....

So heres an idea.... Not to overburden anyone to have to do any real work.... Make 1 subject area a sticky for the week, anyone with FACTUAL information post to it to be collected and added to a single FAQ thread.. Can we get help with the sticky part?

anyone? anyone?

This is a bit "warmer" than some other lists you could have found, hehehe:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
but the flipoffs are a considered good friendly conduct here.
and the tech is about as good as you will ever find, truly.
Do the search, and ask anyway. Stuff is constantly changing.
Someone may have a fire sale on Mog axles today, y'never know:D :D

I'm no expert, but I'm gathering up the stuff for the D44 swap. You need to find Wagoneer axles or narrow track Cherokee axles. The FSJ must have been a Quadratrac model if you want to maintain the rear offset. I don't know the exact year range that this was available, but I'm pretty sure it was only in the 70s.

Another option (and maybe less $$) is a CJ with Quadratrac. Most of these (maybe all??) came with the AMC Corp 20 rear. This axle would work just fine in a Samurai and is no where near as bad as the jeepers say it is. And the good news is jeepers use these axles as door stops cuz they think they're junk, so you could maybe get one for next to nothing.

Or go with Mog portals and be done with it :D

Oh yeah. There's an issue with the spring perch on the passenger side front. You have to make some mods on the housing or move your leafs outboard a bit or mount the front axle slightly left of center (unless you shorten the driver side tube and axle to match).

Sounds fun, doesn't it?:p Another reason I'll probably go coil front when I get around to the Dana swap.

Yeah that is what i am planning. Coil front and 1/4 elliptical rear. I want to make the swap as reliable as possible, with no compund angle for the t-case.:)

I realize I made a poor decision, but I have been running a Model 20 under my 4.0 V6 Ranger for the last 3 years (I found a good deal on a Dana 44 front from a wagoneer, wanted to stay 6 lug in the rear.) Runnin through Tellico and the like on 35's w/ 4.56 gears and welded solid locker. Just put an axle truss on it and it will live forever.:flipoff2: :flipoff2: (behind a zuki)
