Welp I picked up my wide box today. It's a Scout II T 18 case fit with the 6.? to 1 first gear and cluster gears out of a T 98. Only problem I had was the Scout main shaft (which you have to use) was NFG. I managed to find another T 18 (close) and traded a T 19 (close) just to get the new main shaft. The T 98 came out of a 1210. T 19 main shaft's won't work for this kind of mixin' and matchin'.

All right, here is the deal. I know BTDT. I bought a 'T18' off ebay, turned out to be a Ford T98. I was a little PO'd, don't ask how much I paid, still pissed about that. The factory mixed T18 and T98 cases all the time they are the same. The T18, T98, and T19 main shafts are all different. I have heard the T18 shafts can work with a T19 with the addition of a snap ring groove.
I just bought a T98 six spline main shaft to convert the box for a $100.00. Very rare find, but the guy said he might have another (John @ All Standard 916-927-3919). I just sourced the long IH T98 shaft from a guy here on the board to replace the shaft Ford shaft.
Here is what I am doing. Taking a 4wd drive SII T18 case with Dana 20 adapter, swapping the Ford T98 gears, input shaft from IH T98, and 6 spline main shaft. I will wind up with a 10 1/4' stick out IH input shaft, with T18 case, w/reverse light top cover from Scout T18, with the six spine output for a D20.
The end result is a unique T98/T18 frank'n tranny. Non-syncro'd 6.4:1 first, a hair better than a T19 wide. The tranny when done should be worth the going rate for T19 wides, I.E. $400.00 here in Cally. Meaning if I sell it, I will break even on the tranny.
Plus the engine is an AMC 360, so saving the short Ford shaft I could sell the entire drive train to a Heep owner and make a killing
