I have an Idea for a SNOW wheeler, how do you perdict it to work? An IFS equipped with long travel suspension, like a desert racer rig only 4x4 would do in the snow? High horse motor, long travel baja suspension, 40" (ish) tires just flat bombin' through the snow getting with it! I think it would do well, less drag on the front axle, cushy suspension to soak up the rougher stuff, high horse to get it. What do yall think? Am I over looking something? The only draw back I can see is the front end would be exspensive! Is this a feesable thought or am I thinking way to far out of the box?

Not a new idea. Just be prepared to spend cubic dollars.

Why not look more towards the sand . . . Horsepower and paddles. The long travel front independent suspension is going to be a big cost with 4x4. . . Ask the Herbst, Dondel, McPherson, and Nick Baldwin. 4wd is great in dakar, but those vehicles are more or less WRC SUV's.

The only problem is that most of the time in the snow you need to run pretty low air pressure, and getting the suspension to work well when you're riding on 4 huge springy (undamped) bags of jello is a bit of a challenge.

Any improvement you make to the suspension and travel will help you with bombing through the snow though, just like it does anywhere else.

And as other's said, getting a long travel IFS setup to survive 40" tires and some horsepower is going to be $$$$.

Did you watch Top Gear when they were driving the toyota hilux through the snow and stuff up in greenland or somewhere. Don't need a lot of travel when you have sidewall flex and properly valved shocks.

The gamma goat cruiser is bad ass. Berger's old 416mog buggy was really good in the snow. Taradon built nice axles.

If you would ever go to the con with us you could do the same thing;)

Crossing Ellis creek in the snow can be a blast;)

And no, you don't have to take that line:smokin:

I've been running my baja KR's in the snow here lately, and they work pretty damned good! The best part is they don't dig big ass holes!
