there were several threads of people getting their stuff jacked last year. lots of scumbags come out to stuff like this, its draws a rough croud. i even spotted a meth pipe on the ground.

i suspect there will be less theft this year though, since everyone will be watching their shit more closely. and god help the son of a bitch that gets caught stealing out there, they would probably recieve a long ass-whooping by an angry mob.

chain, big lock....i don't think any rigs got stolen, just easy to carry away tweaker type stuff, fuckers stole my shoulder cooler full of beer at back door last year...:mad3:

i was camped next to Axle Jack from CTM we were deep in the pits, he had two or three tents full of people all day and night someone was around and he still got stuff stolen...:mad3:
someone got some nice u joints i think he said.

i rented a U-Haul trailer and locked up all my junk in there...

During the race is the worst because almost everybody is away from camp. These tweakers will steal ANYTHING that isn't tied down :mad3:

If I catch someone, they are coming for a long ass cold drive up north. We will talk about what he has done and then he will be released...

I will of course pour steak blood on his clothes and let him go.. the wolves shoudl get him before long up here.

Pull the rotor out of the distributor when unattended. There were several posts of people losing stuff like nice trailer ratchet straps or sightings of people cruising around looking for trouble. There's going to be onsite security this time but I wouldn't depend on it.

Watch your coolers with water and kid's drinks (like juice packs, juice boxes, etc). People tend to underestimate how much nonalchy drinks to bring and end up stealing water-gatorade-etc. Take those coolers in and do not leave cases of water sitting around or even ratchet strapped down.

There has also been a rise in the stealing of gas cans...don't leave those unattended. We were out a few weeks back and a friend had left a can full of gas out and it got stolen while he was out doing a trail.

If you don't have someone actively watching your camp---lock your stuff up.

i figured the ice chests would get ran through or taken, more than likely me and my buddy will be sharing an RV so that should make locking stuff up easyer. the main concern was my rig getting stolen. i'll probably pull the rotor or take the battery out of my tow rig to keep that safe and chain my yota to my chevy. thats if im sober enough to remember. hopefully all will be safe

A lot of the locals are economically challenged and some have slight substance issues, so whatever is easy to grab, easy to sell is what you have to watch.

I was at the 76 one sunday morning feuling up. There were 6 or 8 bums sitting on the block wall, I could hear them talking about robbing me. I was thinking these fuckers are out of there minds. I grabed my glock 40 (like a gangsta) stuck the clip in and set it on the seat with the door open and keept an eye on them. One bum was trying to rally the others. I keept hearing him say " let go rob this guy". Nothing happend, if theye had any motivation they probably wouldnt be bums, but id love to soot 4or 5 of them.

I was on the dirt road going to Cougar Buttes and a crack head in a jeep pulled in front of me and stopped. He walked up to the motorhome and made small talk about were I was gong to camp. Then he told me he knew a great place and I should follow him. I told him I knew were I was going and to get out of my way. I had 65 feet of motorhome and trailer and noway to turn or go around. He went back to his jeep and started moving and then stopped again before I could get to powerline road. This time I had my loaded 45 and was holding it so he could see it. As he walked towards me again he saw the gun and turned around and split. As I got to powerline rd there was another crackhead in an old ranchero just sitting there. Gun's R Good

Guns are very good! But quite honestly I may look like a crackhead to you??? Be very careful, who you present a firearm to. Take a concealled carry class, even if you don't qualify for the license. It gives you a whole new logic.

are we gonna have to lock up the dirtbikes and quads at night too?

Yes sir.

only if you want to keep em!

Good advice Sir!

I have had guns for many years and would not show one unless I felt it was needed. When the guy refused to allow me to pass and kept asking me who was in the motorhome it was time at least have the gun in ready position. I never pointed the gun at anyone only held it so it could be seen. In this case that was all that was needed.

Brandishing, dude calls the cops, probable cause for a search, cops find the gun, assume that the tweaker is telling the truth, tweaker says you pointed it at him, you get a new vacation. I am sure you were safe, just make sure everyone else is as well. Just sayin.

Everyone watch for the thieves this week (and always), and if you catch one make sure he doesn't accidentally choke himself out before the authorities get there!:) And make sure you keep him safe away from any anonymous strangers that might storm in and kick the everliving shit out of him, then run off before you could catch them.:)

Rick.

i think a thief could be nicely hog tied to prevent any further dangers to the public while the authorities are on their way. it's the right thing to do.:)
and using your hands in "self defense" against him would pose a danger to such diseases like aids from flesh wound transfusions. a safer method would be using your feet in a stomping motion. anyone gonna be on watch during race day?

I said ballsy because they stole a fully loaded haytruck from our property unbolted the gate and drove away in it. Later got it stuck took what they could and left it.

The other time came onto our property stole 2 old oxygen tanks, used a dolly and we tracked the dolly tracks to the neighbors.:mad3:
