I have an 85 5.9L 360 with AC. I have ripped out the condensor and all the other parts (didn't work and wanted it all gone). I'm getting my engine rebuilt and (mildly) pimped and would like to remove the AC pump from the picture. Currently all the brackets for the other accessories rely on the bracket for the AC pump and I'm wondering how it's setup in the NON-AC versions. pictures would help.

Thanks

My alternator adjustment slot is on the top rather than the bottom, did you flip the bracket?

Non-A/C vehicles get a completely different belt and bracket setup. The easiest way would be to pull off the A/C compressor and mount a idler pulley in place of it like the 100A alternator trucks get.

Otherwise you will have to hunt the junkyards for the other pulley and bracket setups:

It may be possible to space the alternator with washers to use the grooves on the pulleys you have but there are not guarantees.

And yes, this is a noob question, lol. :flipoff2:

It looks like I could actually skip the idler and run a couple belts just crank to alt if I put some washers in the spaces that the AC brackets are in now, what do you think?

It's possible. I've had some luck with doing that but I tried it on my '72 Charger with a Magnum 360 and didn't have much luck keeping the belts on and ended up putting March aluminum pulleys on it. I also took the A/C compressor off my '84 Ramcharger but I also added a 100A alternator and brackets at the same time and was able to use most of my pulleys. I think I had to replace the water pump pulley with one without A/C but I may be confusing that with my various big block swaps.

lokking at elwinil's diagram it would be the bracket that is #24 see the 3 lower bolt holes i cut just above them...looking like this \_____
have you updated your alt? cause it seem to me in ref to diagrams above the adjuster bolt should be on bottom other than the 225 eng....

Why not keep the compressor and use it for on board air? You already have it, so why not use it?
