Did a saginaw p/s conversion, All new rod ends, used good parts, followed good directions.Im running 35x17.5 M/T tires and it almost seems too easy to steer. It seems to pull to one side or another on dirt or pavment. What did I do wrong? I have not had the front end aligned by an alignment shop yet,but I set the toe myself. Thanks:confused:

Welcome to GM power steering!!
Seriously, I'd second the caster idea though... the bigger you go with tires, the more caster the vehicle seems to want...
What did you set the toe to? If it is toe out it will wander too. Easy to crank in a little more to try.

With that wide of a tire you will probably need a little more toe in, thats a lot of drag on the front end. Give the tierod a couple turns in and give it a try to see if it helps.

Could be a number of things:
1. A 3 turn box will feel mighty squirreley until you get used to it. If you are using one, try a 4 turn box.
2. Alignment; Caster and toe in.
3. Loose wheel bearings and knuckle bearings.

Assumming you did'nt just do a SOA and or shackle reversal and mess with your caster, I'd blame it on those lame ass tires your running! If I was a 17.5" wide bias ply tire, I'd wander too!
How about shackles? Did you put some long ass extended shackles up front? If so, that would really cause alot of "bump steer" and wandering due to the effect they have on the caster.
How about the angle of your drag link? Is it parallel with the tie rod? Or is it mounted on the tie rod and angleing up to the pitman arm? That would give you severe bump steer as well.

My vote goes to Dog Walker. I did all of the above, one step at a time because of serious walking. I\Georg installed a variable ratio box 3.5-ish as well as the kit from Advanced Adapter. However, I have the worlds longest shackles up front with no correction kit. I also just installed a 16 inch steering wheel – helped a little. When the piggy bank is full - you can bet I'm going spring-over and correction kit.
