i have a t-19 that came with a bellhousing than i'm not sure what it bolt to. and i have a IH 232/258 bellhousing....
this bellhousing will bolt to an AMC 258 and to the IH T-19 but the tranny input shaft is about flush with the pilot bushing (it don't go in at all) and this AMC bellhousing is about 1" thicker than the one i took off the tranny originally.
so my question is...... do they make a weird pilot bushing that maybe looks like a top hat ar something or do i just have to get the correct length input shaft...
there's a picture at http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/parts.html null (http://null)

Scout designers got creative from what I have seen with the input shafts and 258's. I have a 258 and a t-90aa 3 speed. There is an adapter thing that changes the thickness (big sleeve that goes in crank then the pilot bushing goes inside that thing.) Also my t-90aa is not the same as a jeep t-90 by any means. The old scout t-90a1 might be but I have no clue. But from what I have seen the IH trannies are a animal all their own. they have the same generic model numbers (ie t-90 t-18 t-19) but some stuff isnt interchangable between say a jeep t-19 and a scout t-19. You probably need a scout t-19 -> amc 258 bellhousing and good luck finding one that isnt gonna make you broke. Most of the jeep guys that took scout 4 speeds (and bellhousings) and swapped them in their junk have run the prices sky high like w/ the d300's. You might be able to shave some of the material on the engine side and the tranny side to get enough depth into the pilot bushing. ALSO what I have seen people do is to have a pilot bushing made for their application. In your case all you need is the right outside dia. and make it real long so it pokes out the crank far enough to meet the input shaft. I am real sleepyt and this probably makes no sense but I tried
