Searched, didn't find.

My apologies for a Jeep guy invading your Ford page.

My friend has an old Bronco, probably a '74 but not sure. He needs to find the original serial number to register it but he can't find it. Any thought on the location would be greatly appreciated.

The most obvious place is a metal tag in the glove box... attached to the glove box door.

I'm thinking there must be a more permanant place to put a serial number. It would be too easy to swap glove box doors from vehicle to vehicle.

Too logical?

I was also told in the engine compartment behind the carb on the firewall, but hanv'e looked at mine myself.

Three place's on an EB. One like Mark said stamped on the top of the frame passenger side forward (the permanent one, all models). Second could be a data plate rivited on the glove box door (later models). Third a data plate on the drivers side kick panel by where the emergency brake pedal is (earlier models).

Very true. Most Midwest frames that I have seen aren't readable without taking a wire wheel to the frame, from the roadsalt:mad:

Being from NV though, your friend shouldn't have that problem.

One other place is the clear sticker found on the driver's side rear doorpost. A few later year models of mine still had that sticker on them.

I've stripped and painted several E.B. frames, as all ready stated there's one on the pass. side frame between the shock mount and just forward of the floorboard on top another on the front cross member on the oil pan side and another on the rear cross member I don't remember which side but I would guess the gas tank side.
Many people think they will just change the glove box door and it will become that vehicle's vin # they replaced the glove box door with, maybe in some states there a little lazy in there inspections, when I move to AZ. in 1991 they compared my vin# on my glove box door with the one on the pass frame, come to find out CA. had put one to many #'ss in my vin on the pink, so a lengthy process of getting that corrected began. If you’re going to stay in your state I would think it would be no problem but it you move to another state I recommend you put the original glove box door back on.

Do the same locations apply to the fullsize Broncos? 78-96?
