So I have this diesel truck, motor is junk. I also have this BBC tha tI think would fit sooooo nice. I know I can bolt it into the truck no problemo, question is can I hook it to the existing TH400 and converter? I think I can but I want to be sure.

THANKS!

depends on which one it is.. The early ones(5.7/350) wont but the later ones(6.2/6.5) will

Huh? I'm pretty sure all Chevy V8 motors use the same bellhousing pattern, so the trans should bolt right up, and I've used a convertor from a 6.2 with a TH350 and 350 small block, so as long as the big block's flexplat hs the right holes it should work, even then, you could always switch flexplates.

yes it will bolt in if it is a 6.2/6.5 to the th400 (the 5.7diesel (pre-82) has a BOP engine pattern, not chevy). the flexplate is different (diesels use 139tooth). and the converter will work, but diesel converters have a different stall speed than the gas converters

Well even if it is the 350 diesel with the BOP pattern, an adapter is available to bolt a Chevy motor to BOP trans or vice versa, and it's super cheap, or, you could have the BOP TH400 guts swapped into a chevy TH400 case, not too hard or expensive.

As has been said, if it is the 6.2/6.5 then it will bolt right in. I've done it... I'm currently running a 350 TBI where a 6.2 lived, and I'm still using the converter from the diesel...

Thanks guys!

I thought it would work but I wanted to be 100% sure before I started throwing parts away
