I have an 02 TJ and I'm looking for a 4 or 4.5 inch lift thats less than 2 grand. It'll mostly be used in california running trails and a little mudding and some rock crawling thrown in so it needs to be able to handle most terrain. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

This would do anything that I have seen or done in Nor Cal, and it would do most of the Rubicon.

Long arm
X2. save a little more money and go with a long arm. I went short arm at first and liked it ok, the problem eas I eventually wanted more out of my lift and I had to pay for another lift so that I could get the long arm. I would prefer to only do things 1 time. Just my .02

Depending on what kind of budget you have, and what other mods you have done, without knowing those variables I would recommend looking at some of the fender kits. For example you can do some home brew highline kits modifying the body to compensate for the lift and spend that cash somewhere else.
Just a suggestion if you haven't thought about it or weren't aware. if you know that you need a 4" lift, I have had really good personal experience with Currie components. They always have excellent customer service. that means alot to me, just my .02. I think clayton uses Currie ends with square tube arms. With a 4" lift I would look in to LA suspension. You will be at the threshold for decent performance with short arm.
Hope that helps.

Redchevy and 4-H, also just a suggestion check out individual components to put together something that works. For example I am building an LJ using 2.5" OME springs and shocks, and Currie short arms. My buddy was running the OME's and I really liked the ride he had. I bought a body kit so I can run 37's with that minimal lift. I cut the shit out of the rear quarters. Just an example, in summary don't blow all of your cash on a magazine ad in a 4x4 magazine for a 4" lift combo. If you study this board long enough I betcha you will find something that will work for you better than a Mcliftkit.
