Alright the transmission and transfer case are installed. I still have to bolt in the front driveshaft and put a bearing and return spring on the clutch linkage...they should be here tomorrow. I'm pretty pumped about this T19. Its a close box so while I dont have the crawler gear for wheelin, it should be fun on the street; and not too bad offroad. Just thought I'd share my joy!

I'm headed that route shortly. Auto to T98 swap (6.4:1 Granny). I'm gathering parts, just need the dam flywheel, and bell used parts. New I need a pilot bearing and pressure plate. I have everything else. Did you run into any problems you wern't ready for?

Joe, was it you that was asking me about the bellhousing ans flywheel? If that's holding up your swap let me know and I'll dig through my junk pile. I think I have 2 of everything.

Joe, the only thing I've run into was I didnt disconnect as many wires as I should have to pull the dash when I put the pedals in. SO now I have to reconnect some wires so my CD player and auxiliary lights work.

With everyone else jumping onto the Auto Tranny bandwagon...why are you guys switching?

I personally like the solid hook-up of a manual. Even without oil, I'm still getting home

They ARE switching from auto to manual.

That's what I meant...why are they going away from the Autos if they are supposed to be the hot set-up?

The reason I'm switching is because my 727 was slipping from 2-3. I decided if I was going to have to pull it, then I may as well put a 4 speed back in. I drove a four speed (close ratio) Scout about a month ago and it was awesome. It just feels like the automatic sucks more power up than the manual.

It does...unless it has a lock-up converter

My slush box is almost done, first is smoked. BTW, the tranny would have held up better if I had lower gears 4.10's vs 3.54's. After my last trip I decided I'd had enough of always watching and stressing over the tranny temp. I also want to go lower gearing, the auto is going to be expensive to rebuild, and lower gears or a second t-case would cost me a lot more coin then a Tera low kit. Plus I have most of the parts from my other now dead project Scout.

Yup twas I, I'm not in too big of a rush. I need to start selling off some of my crap, before I do the swap or the wife is going to be I just picked up two trannies, one to swap, one to sell. In due time, most likely during the early spring. I drop you a line when I start gathering parts for the swap.

I'm doing the swap...as soon as I can afford the parts... for two reasons.

1. My auto is smoked also...3rd gear, nuetral and sometimes reverse is all that is working.

2. Bought a rebuilt Transfer case with the Bronco gears (2.46:1) and you cant get an Auto bullgear for it.

I'm really bummed, had a line on a free scout with T19 and all the parts/linkage I needed for the swap....Guy's wife wanted it out of the yard.. I was already to go pick it up, but he just told me the bank still has the title on it...damn

Do you need the title?

I would not mess around with a rig where the bank still owns the title. You may be able to call the bank and buy the title for cheap.

Ok guys, I drove the Scout for the first time last night. It will really scream with the 4 speed! I felt a big difference between it and the 727. I guess the fuel injection helps too. Now if I can just get my gauge lights to work again and my driver side speakers to work

Speakers I don't even have a stereo. I have to sing to myself (like the commercial) "Opps, I did it again...."

Can you post the wiring diagram for your neon lights....

Details on the fuel injection setup please. I've driven Josh C's 75 with 304/stick and it has a lot more pop then my 345/727. Part of the reason I'm dumping the auto.

Joe, I have the 2 bbl 670 cfm Holley Projection kit. It has the closed loop with oxygen sensor. It was pretty easy to set up. Just run new fuel line, with a return line and hook all the sensors to the wiring harness. Right now it sits on a spreadbore manifold, but I have a machined 2bbl manifold getting powdercoated right now. I'm going to put it on when I get a cam and some head work done.

I wonder if your one speaker sounds better than my actual operating 8-track through the stock speaker in the dash.

Nothin like a little Gorden Lightfoot or Cream playing ....
