so ifound that universal wiring harness..and i have a few questions...it says to use the 89-93 computer of a mustang which i can get at autozone..from any of those years for under 70 bucks..but is this harness going to work on my 302? its a 5.0 of 1989 bronco SPEED DENSITY...and what else do i need besides the MAF and intake manifold...?

maybe im reading you wrong, your wanting to convert a speed density to MAF ?

And you said it was out a 89 right in your previous thread, That should have throttle body injection (TBI) it will look like a carb but have injectors in the center.

Anyways a 89-93 mustang had the same 5.0 as in the truck, different intake and i few other things. But engine as a core is the same, wiring should be the same.

Just a heads up a MAF sensor is 120 bucks new ( i just replaced one) YOur saying 70 for a computer (i though they were more but i guss im wrong) and 480 dollars for a harness. Plus an intake 100-500+ (depending on what you get)

Your talking 770-1370 bucks to go from speed density to MAF.

Now ive driven both 5.0s with MAF and SD. And i didnt notice anything different.

My buddy has a SD 5.0 with a lunati cam and it turned .30 over. And he has noticeable more power and i think he only spent about 600 (Cam, lifters, rods etc, plus some other goodies) He was already due for a rebuild, but im not gonna note that, He did it himself and i have no idea what he spent.

Your choice.

ok im just going to keep the speed density...now..i was reading that on some bronco the ecu control the tranny...so they told me to look for an ecu that was of an 89 or older or a manual bronco so i didnt have the problem of the tranny since i wont be using an automatic

plus you could take that money and add some more lift, a set of straight axles and or tires.

Umm, yeah it won't. :shaking:

Yeah, the same, except the mustang 5.0 has forged pistons, higher compression ratio, oh, and a different firing order...

OP. Grab the upper and lower intake from a pre 1992 crown victoria/merc marquis/lincoln town car. It's lower profile than the truck setup IE it will fit under your hood. Then just use the stock truck harness and computer to drive it. Trucks only had one O2 sensor, the cars had two.

You can't convert a non HO to HO mass air without swapping the cam to one with an HO firing order, or it won't run well with the sequential injection. Non ho is batch fire. PS, if you get a speed density computer from a late 80's-early 90s 302 car or truck, they did not use the ECU to shift the trans.

1. i stand corrected Totally, i went and found a diagram and photo of a SD mustang engine, yea now i feel stupid, should have double checked before i spewed.

2. i was pointing more towards the wiring for the sensors, not the firing order itself, juat for all the sensor and crap.

2B. But i really didnt know that, only owned one stang, it was my folks. And it didnt have a stock wiring harness. We traded our pop-up for it. It had a 347 stroker (build sheet included) and a 5 speed and some other goodies.

You can use the H.O. computer with non-H.O. Cam if you swap the injector wiring around. Just do it at the intake disconnect, quick and easy. I ran my Bronco, '72 302 motor with '65 289 heads, this way for years.

Here's another little bit; The '88 Calif HO Mustangs cam MAF and no computer controls for the Auto tranny.
