hey , i am seriously thinking of buying a 77 scout 2dr , 196 4cyl, 4spd , . body is a
little rough but drivetrain seems pretty
solid. i just want to know what i could expect to do with this thing on the trails,
and is the drivetrain of good choice for the trails.

All depends on the types of trails you want to run. What are you looking at for trail obstacles?

Just swap in a IH V8 and get it. All the 4 bangers I have seen have low gears in the diffs and If your lucky a Granny T-19.

Don't forget the lunch box locker in front, and weld up the Trac-No-Loc in the rear. How much is the owner asking? Also look through the board here, and the Binder Bulletin (http://www.binderbulletin.org)

Just ignore the Old Scout posts about Chrome, seems to be a favorite topic around here.

thanks for the hospitality. i am buying it for $150. the drive train is great , just the body is roughed up. i figured its worth
the money if i can go wheelin in it . i will
hang over here with you scout guru's and see if i can learn a thing or two about this scout.
