: Has this ever happened?

As I was turning into the street that goes into my neighborhood, I noticed a tire rubbing sound. When I pulled into the driveway, the rear drivers side fender was almost right on top of the tire I looked underneath and the shackle was almost parallel to the frame. I had 3 friends and myself in the Scout, so I told my brother to drop some pounds! Really, I picked up on the bumper and the shackle went back to normal position. I have 4" Triangle springs, does this happen with those? Or did I almost flip it?

If your running stock length shackles yea its common. If you run a set 1-1.5" longer it will not happen so often.

BTW your sig pic is just a red X

Well..... I've run RANCHO, SUPERLIFT, and TRIANGLE, and I've only had this happen with the TRIANGLE'S. In fact, I was just down in BAJA in september going moderately fast down a great desert road when I noticed my front tires were rubbing the fenders. So.... I stop, grab a cold one and asses the situation. The front shackles were pointing straight forward and locked in this position! These are new springs this year and they're f...in sagged already! When I installed these springs they seemed to be a higher lift than the others I had run, but now they're sagged more than the others ever did. One call to SUPERSCOUT got me a fresh set, and they said it's happened a time or two with these springs. Something about changing manufacturers, and the main leaf being too long I think. I got the highlift out and BAM! Back down went the shackles. Anyway, I'm leaving the sagged set on the "TERRABULL", and installing the new fronts on my '80 SII with RS. This should work out great since the RS netted me about 2 extra inches of lift, and when they sag (and they will)the front will match the rear SOA. Oh yea, the TRIANGLES definitely flex better than the other lift springs IMO.

I've had this happen on several occasions in the front, 4" Skyjackers w/ stock length shackles. After the SOA, I'll add the anti-flip shackle OS has on his rig.

Last time I flipped the front drivers side was a rear PITA, I was up against a rock in the front, ass end up against another rock. Had to use the hi-lift, winch, and pry bar to flip the shackle and get out.

Had this happen on my 800 with Superlift early CJ 4" springs. the main leaf was a little short so i had to move and remount to front schakle mount. Mine would collapse and then go back to normal. But then I bought a pair of 1.5" lift shcakles and have never had any more problems.

My buddy had 2.5" Ranchos on his Scout 2 with stock length shackles and the shackles would stove everytime we went wheeling. I weldered on a shackle bumpstop and all was well. We didn't want to put longer shackles on a truck with 0 degrees of caster but that would have fixed it too.
